Summary

This position is located within the Administrative Office Technology Office (AOTO) of the Department of Technology Services (DTS). The AOTO provides secure IT solutions and support services to the AO end user community; and supports court IT managers in the implementation of endpoint security tool solutions. The incumbent must have a proven record of successfully leading IT services management, infrastructure operation and support, services delivery, and cyber security program.

Duties

Help

The Deputy Office Chief is responsible for assisting the AOTO Chief in providing leadership, supervision, and direction to government and contractor staff involved in the Office's operations cross four AO locations at Washington DC, San Antonio, Phoenix and Charleston.

Duties include, but are not limited to:

  1. Acting as a trusted advisor and building long-term strategic relationships with key stockholders.
  2. Managing all administrative matters associated with the day-to-day operation of the Office, including but not limited to staff development and training, staff assignments, performance standards development, and communications.
  3. Communicating regularly with customers to remain aware of business needs and potential problem areas and taking corrective actions to keep Office operating effectively and efficiently.
  4. Fostering a secure and trusted IT environment cross four AO locations managed and operated by the AOTO; and promoting cybersecurity best practices.
  5. Assisting in the development of long-range planning and budget forecasts which include plans for acquisition of hardware, software and/or services necessary to support major operations.
  6. Managing the execution of a $30M IT budget to support the initiatives and activities of the Office.
  7. Coordinating the integration of crosscutting AOTO functional areas to support business alignment with service life cycle management, risk management, project management, and technology infrastructure management.
  8. Leading AOTO major initiatives to support judiciary and AO's goals and objectives. Assisting in the development of information technology, information technology security, policies, guidelines and procedures developed for use by the AO.
  9. Providing oversight of AOTO's business continuity and disaster recovery program.
  10. Serving as the Co-Chair of the Court IT Operation Working Group.

Failure to successfully complete the trial period may result in termination of employment. This does not apply to current federal Judiciary employees.
  5. Relocation expenses may be provided, but only if authorized by the Director of the AO.

Qualifications

Applicants must have demonstrated experience as listed below. This requirement is according to the AO Classification, Compensation, and Recruitment Systems which include interpretive guidance and reference to the OPM Operating Manual for Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions.

Specialized Experience: Applicants must have at least one full year (52 weeks) of specialized experience which is in or directly related to the line of work of this position. Specialized experience is extensive leadership and management experience which has provided the applicant with demonstrated experience to lead functional teams across multiple locations and to coordinate multiple projects simultaneously.

Desired, but not required:The ideal candidate for this position will possess the following:

  1. Knowledge of and experience in adopting and implementing cloud services.
  2. IT related certifications.
