Summary

This is an Air Reserve Technician (ART) position. ARTs are part of the regular career civil service and enjoy all the benefits granted to Federal employees in the competitive civil service. In addition, ARTs are required to maintain their active membership in the AF Reserve unit where assigned. ARTs receive on average one weekend of military training per month.

Duties

Help
  • The primary purpose of this position is to test. troubleshoot, repair and modify aircraft fuel distribution systems, repair leaks of external/integrated tanks, and provide training to reservist in the accomplishment of tasks set forth therein.
  • Receives work document(s) or oral instructions regarding problem with aircraft fuel system. By applying external power source(s) or during run-up of aircraft\ observes gauges, meters. and other indicators on test.
  • Troubleshoots fuel cells to determine location of leaks. After defueling. removes tank access door and conducts purging operation using approved equipment.
  • Troubleshoots lntegral fuel tanks, using leak path analysis and other test procedures such as pressure checks, vacuum checks, dye injection checks, helium and argon gas checks, etc., to determine the source or fuel leaks.
  • Accomplishes modifications and prep11res components for storage or shipment. Reads. studies, analyzes and interprets technical orders wiring diagrams, schematics, maintenance, and procedural directives, us appropriate.

Qualifications


QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Qualification Standard Handbook X-118C for the WG-8200 Fluid Systems Maintenance family. Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most blue-collar positions, you must meet any screen-out element listed, and show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on the quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time.

The screen out element for this position is to do the job of a Aircraft Pneudraulic System without more than normal supervision.
JOB ELEMENTS: Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:

1. Ability to follow oral and written instructions.

FUNCTIONAL REQUIREMENTS: Heavy lifting (45·79 pounds). Moderate lifting ( 15-44 lbs). Light liftng (under I5 lbs). Moderate carrying ( I5-44 lbs). Light carrying (under I5 lbs). Hours of straight pulling arc I hour/week. Hours of pulling hand over hand are l hour/week. Hours of pushing are I hour/week. Reaching above shoulder. Use of fingers. Both hands required. Hours of walking are 4 hours/week. Hours of standing are 10 hours/week. Hours of crawling are l hour/week. Hours of kneeling are 1 hour/week. Hours of repeated bending are 3 hours/week. Climbing, use of legs and arms. Both legs required. Operation of crane, truck, tractor, or motor vehicle. Ability for rapid mental and muscular coordination simultaneously. Near vision correctable al 13 inches to 16 inches to Jaeger I 10 4. Far vision correctable in one eye to 20/20 and 20/40 in the other. Both eyes required. Depth perception. Ability 10 distinguish basic colors. Hearing (without aid). Must be free from claustrophobia.

Other Significant Facts:
This is an Air Reserve Technician (ART) position. The incumbent is required 10 meet and maintain Air Force Reserve requirements. Work schedule will be aligned to allow incumbent to fully participate in unit training assemblies (UTA). The incumbents' regular assignments are ART duties; however, the incumbent may be assigned some non-ART duties, generally not to exceed 30 percent of total responsibilities.

This is an Air Reserve Technician (ART) position. ARTs are eligible for 15 days active duty tour each year for which military leave is granted with full civilian pay. Air Reserve units and members; are subject to immediate call to active duty in mobilization to meet a national emergency. Retired military that have active AF Reserve assignments may apply provided they show assignment (position) on the application. A military service member's statement of service/certification will be accepted IF a terminal leave form or DD214 cannot be provided.
