Duties

Help
  • Serves as the Senior IT Specialist for a campus for all customer service problems.
  • Responds to customer requests (whether functional users or staff assistance) for all computer-related difficulties, analyzes and evaluates problems, and provides immediate solutions.
  • Responsible for protection measures such as file access controls, software and physical safeguards, and personnel and visitor control at central and remote sites.
  • Reviews and evaluates existing software and procedures and provides methods of reporting and correcting security violations or breakdowns.
  • Establishes workload priorities, makes assignments based upon difficulty, complexity, type of work, and capabilities.
  • Advises on the performance requirements, keeps individuals informed of progress toward meeting requirements.
  • Participates in the initiation, coordination, and documentation of configuration management assignments to formally document and control the functional and physical characteristics of a system, network, or product during its life cycle.

  • Two year trial/probationary period may be required.
  • In accordance with Change 3 to AR 600-85, Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program, individual must successfully pass a urinalysis screening for illegal drug use prior to appointment and periodically thereafter.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance based on an SSBI with eligibility for Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI).
  • Must execute a classified information Non-Disclosure Agreement.
  • Temporary Duty (TDY) travel may constitute up to 15% of the time within CONUS.
  • Must be willing to work overtime and irregular hours.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job.

Specialized experience is defined as experience in analyzing, troubleshooting technical computer and network related recurring problems.
In addition, applicant must also have Information Technology related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies as defined: (1) Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail. (2) Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services. (3) Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately. (4) Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GG/GS-11), or its equivalent. Creditable experience may include previous military experience, experience gained in the private sector or in another Government Agency as long as it was at least equivalent to the next lower band in the series.
