Duties

Help
  • Perform law enforcement work to maintain law and order, preserve the peace, protect life and civil rights, detect and investigate crimes, arrest or apprehend violators, and perform patrols within the jurisdiction of the military installation.
  • Responds to and investigates emergency calls, complaints and other calls for service.
  • Exercises search and arrest authority, detains witnesses, apprehends suspects, interviews witnesses and other persons involved, determines whether facts warrant apprehension or lesser action.
  • Conducts and/or participates in civilian training regarding various law enforcement topics conducted on an Army installation.
  • Conducts traffic law enforcement patrol using specialized equipment such as radar, Lidar and breathalyzer.
  • Conducts investigative stops, questions, detains, and issues traffic citations as required. Monitors traffic surveys, traffic-signal observance, speed studies, passenger counts, etc. Sets up road blocks, traffic-control points, and directs traffic.
  • Performs protection duties to deter, detect, and deny unauthorized access at fixed installation, internal compound, and incident perimeter posts.

Minimum Qualifications GS-06

To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized experience is defined as experience apprehending persons fleeing a crime scene or attempting to resist arrest; taking statements from witnesses and interrogating suspects; and performing control desk operations. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05).

Minimum Qualification GS-07:

To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized experience is defined as experience interviewing principals and witnesses, investigating crimes and securing a crime scene; responding to emergency situations; gathering information and preparing reports; and utilizing police methods and techniques to perform routine patrol, traffic accident investigations, and traffic control.This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level in the federal service (GS-06).
