There are two (2) vacant positions being recruited for which are located at the Albuquerque Indian Health Center (AIHC) in Albuquerque, NM, under the Chief Executive Officer and Finance Departments. The purpose of the positions is to perform a variety of administrative tasks associated with maintaining and supporting the work performed within the health center.

  • Performs a wide variety of administrative tasks associated with maintaining and supporting the work of the organization. The work may include purchasing supplies and equipment utilizing prescribed purchasing guidelines and procedures; tracking expenditures, establishing and maintaining filing systems; timekeeping functions; and preparing and processing documents associated with the travel of staff. Ensures that all staff members of the organizational unit receive up-to-date guidance on office policies and procedures and other day-to-day office business requirements and controls. Answers questions concerning policies and procedures related to support/office services.
  • Receives, routes, or otherwise handles incoming and outgoing materials such as controlled or routine correspondence, reports, memoranda, and other forms of written communication. Performs the following duties: tracks controlled correspondence; edits correspondence, letters and reports for spelling and grammar; and develops standard or form letters and replies to inquiries. Develops background information and prepares outlines for correspondence/reports.
  • Performs office automation duties to prepare documents such as correspondence, forms, and reports which can include technical material, graphs and charts. Enters information into established databases and similar systems which track various administrative activities of the organization. Services of a qualified typist required.

Measles and Rubella immunization required for selectees born after 1957. Seasonal Influenza immunization is required for civilian health care facility staff working in Indian Health Service health care facilities.

On-call hours or standby duty may be required.

Qualifications

To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.

For positions requiring positive education requirements, or if you are using education to meet all or part of the qualification requirements, you MUST submit a copy of your transcripts or an itemized list of college courses which includes equivalent information from the transcript (course title, semester/quarter hours, and grade/degree earned) in your resume.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-05 grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: a full range of administrative support assignments with experience in establishing and maintaining filing systems, processing incoming and outgoing correspondence, assembling and generating various reports and presentations, scheduling and setting up meetings, making travels arrangements and processing vouchers, maintaining leave records for staff, and purchasing office supplies/equipment.

Proficiency Requirements: In addition to meeting experience or education requirements, applicants for this position must show possession of Office Automation skills and must have typing proficiency of 40 words per minute.

You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement. Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP).

This position has promotion potential to the GS-07 grade level. Promotion to the next grade level is at management's discretion and is based on your demonstrated ability to perform the higher level duties, the continuing need for the higher level duties, and "Regulatory/Administrative" approval. Promotion to the next higher grade level is not guaranteed and no promise of promotion is implied.
