The incumbent(s) will report to the Deputy Laboratory Manager onsite with responsibility for performing the pre-analytic phases of laboratory testing procedures, and may also perform the analytic and post-analytic phases of waived testing procedures.

May work 10 hour shifts or alternate work schedules (rotating, evenings, and weekends) to provide continuity of service.

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Applicants who meet one of the following requirements may qualify for positions at the GS-4 grade -
6 months of general experience that provided a familiarity with the subject matter of the position to be filled AND 6 months of specialized experience.
Successful completion of an associate-degree course of study of which the 2nd year of the 2-year program included successful completion of a training course of approximately a year's duration in a certified laboratory assistant school approved by a nationally recognized accrediting agency.
1 year of study that included 6 semester hours in chemistry and/or the biological sciences, plus successful completion of a full-time training course of approximately a year's duration in a medical or clinical laboratory assistant (or technician) school that included instruction in chemistry, hematology, blood banking, and microbiology (including serology) and that, in addition, included supervised laboratory practice incident to the diagnostic process and the treatment of patients.
2 years of study that included at least 12 semester hours of chemistry and/or biological science course work that must have been directly related to the specialization of the position to be filled.
A combination of education and experience that when combined fully meet the minimum qualifications for this pay grade.
Qualifying specialized experience for the GS-4 grade is defined as: performing laboratory tests and examinations (chemical, microbiologic, hematologic and blood banking) and preparing reports of findings or performing technical support work in a closely related field such as biological laboratory technician work, which required the application of the methods and techniques of a Medical Technician. Duties must have included using laboratory manuals which provided detailed instructions regarding techniques, procedures, reagents, stains, controls, normal values, etc. and setting up collection trays with supplies necessary for collection of blood and other specimens.
