The employee in this position serves as a Fish Biologist at the Achii Hanyo Native Fishes Rearing Station, a satellite of the Willow Beach National Fish Hatchery. Achii Hanyo is located on the Colorado River Indian Tribes Reservation, Parker, Arizona. The primary duties include the production of warm water native fish species, primarily bonytail and razorback sucker for recovery program in the Colorado River basin. The Fish Biologist works cooperatively with Native American tribes, research institutions, state, local, and Federal cooperators.
This is a Term appointment, not-to-exceed 13 months. At management's discretion, this appointment may be extended up to the 4-year limit. This Term position provides eligibility for the incumbent to earn leave and to receive Federal retirement coverage, health insurance, and life insurance. However, Term appointments do not confer competitive status and do not lead to permanent employment.

Physical Demands: The work requires considerable physical exertion when walking over wet, muddy, rough, uneven, or rocky surfaces; bending, crouching, stooping, stretching, reaching, lifting (feed, fertilizer, etc), seining (up to 100 feet), and netting. The work requires agility and dexterity in a harsh desert environment where temperatures may routinely and consistently exceed 100 F.
Work Environment: Work is primarily outdoors. Temperature and weather extremes are encountered in outdoor work. The employee is expected to conduct duties in a safe and orderly manner so as not to endanger self, fellow workers, or property with which entrusted.
