The selectee will serve as a Supervisory Training Instructor (Operational Medicine) in the Office of the Deputy Director, Operational Medicine Division. Typical work assignments include:

  • Leading the conception, development, and management of national-level instructional programs supporting emergency medical response and operational medicine.
  • Planning long-range training strategies, establishing evaluation metrics, and ensuring all instructional materials, lesson plans, instructor guides, and course assessments adhere to adult-learning principles.
  • Conducting comprehensive needs assessments and training analysis to identify gaps in workforce capabilities and emerging requirements across the operational medicine portfolio.
  • Serving as a supervisory official and authoritative technical leader within the Operational Medicine Division, exercising full managerial and administrative responsibility for a multidisciplinary team of instructors, subject matter experts, and support staff engaged in the design, delivery, and evaluation of national level emergency medical and operational medicine training programs.

  • Possess a valid U.S. Motor Vehicle Operator's License and maintain a valid license while you occupy the position.

Qualifications

To be considered qualified for this position you must meet the following qualification requirements for the respective grade level in which you are applying.

You qualify for the GS-14 level (starting salary $142,488.00) if you possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 level performing duties such as:

  • Leading the development and implementation of technical training programs in emergency medical services training and/or operational medicine education programs.
  • Conducting comprehensive assessments using trend analysis, course evaluations or reviews of certifications, reports, and surveys to identify training needs.
  • Managing a team to meet organization goals by assigning tasks, setting performance standards, providing training, professional development or managing resources.

Selective Placement Factor: In addition to the minimum qualifications described above, you must meet the following requirement to be considered qualified for the position:

  • Must possess and maintain an active National Registry Emergency Medical Technician (NREMT) certification.

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
