Duties

Help

If selected for this position, you will perform a wide range of administrative and analytical duties in one or more assigned phases of the budget for the United States Attorney's Office (USAO), i.e., budget formulation, presentation, and execution. Analytical duties involve annual USAO budgets, and may involve both short and long-range USAO fiscal needs to support plans, programs and litigative activities. You will provide advice and recommendations to USAO management on relative costs and benefits of alternative methods of financing program and administrative operations; and implementing legal and regulatory controls over allotments, obligations, and expenditure of funds in approved budgets. Typical work assignments will include:

  • Plan and develop budget estimates for the District.
  • Prepare and evaluate budget justifications.
  • Provide a variety of budgetary reports.
  • Execute the annual budget for the USAO.
  • Draft procedural guidance concerning expenditure control, and obligation reporting.
  • Analyze program fund requirements submitted by district program managers.
  • Serve as a funds certifying officer.
Responsibilities will increase and assignments will become more complex as your training and experience progress.

Qualifications

GS-12: To be eligible at the GS-12 level, you must meet one year of specialized experience at the GS-11 level, as defined below:

Experience applying an advanced knowledge of the concepts, principles, practices, laws and regulations of budgeting and finance (includes budget formulation, justification, and execution); reviewing, and consolidating a variety of spending plans, managing and monitoring the status of funds and preparing financial reports.
