Duties

Help
  • Provide direction and oversight of the command’s Financial Improvement Audit Readiness (FIAR) program.
  • Applies statutory and regulatory guidance to resolve unusual and difficult financial audit readiness situations.
  • Evaluate the efficiency and effectiveness of the FIAR program.
  • Analyze automated financial system process maps and data flow to provide web-based solutions.
  • Determine the reliability of reportable financial information in support of audit readiness.
  • Review and correct obligation and disbursement reconciliations on auditable financial statements.
  • Advise and train program managers on processing accounting transactions and reconciling accounting/financial reports.
  • Develop a variety of reports, papers, procedures, and instructions to accomplish financial audit readiness goals.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: utilizing various financial systems (such as General Fund Enterprise Business Systems (GFEBS) and Global Combat Support System-Army (GCSS-A)) to initiate reports, perform research, analyze financial transactions or adjustments, or resolve financial data discrepancies; interpreting, applying, and providing guidance on regulations governing Financial Management and Accounting programs; gathering and analyzing financial program data to verify accuracy and compliance with policies and procedures; and maintaining, evaluating, or improving automated financial systems. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11).

With DoD approval, Term appointments may be extended beyond eight (8) years. Current permanent Federal employees (to include permanent Army employees) applying for a Term appointment will be appointed/converted into a Term appointment with no statutory return rights back to a permanent position.
