Duties

Help
  • You will oversee the work of specialists functioning on corrosion control engineering programs, assessments, and initiatives for long term-planning of off-ship repairs, maintenance, and modernization.
  • You will provide program administration and supervises operations of off-ship repair, maintenance and modernization corrosion control programs that impact all classes of surface ships during their acquisition life cycle.
  • You will interact with others to evaluate technical requirements and analyze other factors affecting surface ship Expected Service Life (ESL) and systems performance.
  • You will provide guidance for integrated government and contractor teams in conducting highly detailed technical corrosion inspections, data analysis, monitoring, and reviewing summary reports and documentation on inspection results.
  • You will conduct advance planning and tailor approaches for integration and control procedures for ship availabilities.
  • You will establish processes covering the latest engineering technological advances and state-of-the-art applications pertinent to development of new products or theories are implemented within assigned areas of responsibility.
  • You will participate with SURFMEPP and external managers in persuading users to accept maintenance and modernization approaches impacting corrosion onboard surface ship systems and equipment.
  • You will assist Commander Naval Surface Forces Type Desk, Class Squadrons and Maintenance Managers throughout the Navy community in identifying and resolving advance planning and engineering problems for the Navy's surface fleet.
  • You will develop processes for the Regional and Continuous Maintenance Programs in accordance with Fleet Forces Command Instructions.
  • You will review and analyze data from sources including, but not limited to, 3M-Databases, Surface CCIMS, and Navy Maintenance Databases to determine the need for changes in CMP assessment or directed repair task requirements.
  • You will participate and interface with other branch, division, and department heads to design methods that identify gaps in maintenance requirements which impact surface ship material condition and the ability of surface ships to achieve ESL.
  • You will monitor work performance and develop employees through training and work assignments, evaluate performance, and establish priorities.
  • You will articulate and communicate to staff and team members assignments, projects, actionable events, milestones, and program issues under review.

Qualifications

Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the next lower pay band NH-02 (GS-11 equivalent) grade level in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: "analyzing program administration and operations for off-ship repair, maintenance and modernization corrosion control programs to support ship lifecycle, maintenance or performance.

This announcement uses the Direct Hire Authority (DHA) for AcqDemo Business and Technical Management to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.

The NH-03 broadband is equivalent to the GS-12 and GS-13 grade levels.

This position is covered by the Department of Defense Priority Placement Program.
