Help

As a HUMAN RESOURCES SPECIALIST, GS-0201-09, you will serve on the Group Commander's Support Staff (CSS). The incumbent will administer and direct the Group Commander's Support Staff functions to ensure smooth day-to-day operations. Additionally, trains in the accomplishment of tasks set forth herein. Perform other duties as assigned.

  • This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard, required prior to the effective date of placement.
  • Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform.
  • Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment.
  • Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership and employment in the National Guard in the military grade listed in this announcement.
  • Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation.
  • May be required to successfully complete a probationary period.
  • Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance within one year of appointment.
  • This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. An individual convicted of a qualifying crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of this position.
  • Ability to establish effective professional working relationships with coworkers and customers, contributing to a cooperative working environment and successful accomplishment of the mission.
  • Irregular and/or overtime (compensatory) hours may be required to support operational requirements or contingencies or may be required to work hours outside of the normal duty day.

Qualifications

Military Grades: E-1 through E7

Desired Compatible Military Assignments: 3F071 or 3F571
Must be willing and able to cross train into the compatible AFSC

GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Must have a validated understanding of the basic principles and concepts of the occupational series and grade:

  • Skilled in collecting and analyzing data effectively, efficiently, and accurately
  • Ability to clearly enunciate English without impediment of speech that would interfere or prohibit efficient communication
  • Ability to write English in reports and presentation formats
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively
  • Skilled in presenting formal training presentations and briefings
  • Ability to assess body language and perceive emotional and/or distress levels
  • Skilled in applying procedures and directives by reading and interpreting program material

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must have at least one year of specialized experiences at the GS-07 level or equivalent, to include: a basic working knowledge of National Guard missions, organizations, and personnel programs; basic knowledge and experiences of personnel programs gained in a classroom or as an on-the-job trainee; knowledge-based competency of human resources business elements and can discuss terminology, concepts, principles, and issues related to this competency; experienced in using references and resource materials and experienced in program functions such as, maintaining personnel records, counseling, or classification and assignments; experiences may include performing personnel functions associated with preparing and maintaining position descriptions and manual records, personnel classification or usage, quality force management, managing personnel records and researching record data; and experienced in operating a computer and using varied computer programs.

Education

If you are using Education to qualify for this position, specialized experience may be substituted with the following education: master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D., if related
