Duties

Help
  • Develops, implements, and oversees the NDT Program to include different NDT methods and equipment for radiography (including digital radiography), magnetic particle, liquid penetrant, ultrasound, eddy currant, and visual testing.
  • Plans, monitors, and evaluates all operations on a continuing basis to ensure compliance with safety and quality assurance requirements to ensure accomplishment of NDT priorities and goals.
  • As Program Manager, ensures all production time frames and required completion dates are met in order to meet deadlines and manage workload.
  • Develops and issues written instructions and standard operating procedures.
  • The incumbent supports maintenance quality programs conducted throughout the agency across the country.
  • Performs NDT Radiographic Testing (RT) inspections and accepts or rejects work products.
  • Communicates and works with other commands, agencies, customers, vendors, and private contractors in support of the Installations NDT Program.
  • Responsible for supervising, directing, and coordinating the activities of employees in support of mission assignments within conventional and guided missile ammunition commodity areas.
  • Develops and approves formal NDT method training courses in accordance with required standards. Administers formal classroom training to trainees for Level I, II, and III certification.

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Position requires temporary duty (TDY) business travel approximately 35% of the time.
  • Position requires incumbent employee to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance.
  • This position is covered by the 1996 Lautenberg Amendment to the Gun Control Act of 1968. Persons convicted of a misdemeanor or felony crime of domestic violence are not eligible for the position.
  • Incumbent is required to meet ammunition certification requirements IAW AMC-R 350-4 within one year of employment.
  • Incumbent is required to achieve the American Society of Nondestructive Testing (ASNT) Level III certification after entry.
  • Incumbent must undergo physical examination and receive favorable results prior to appointment and annually thereafter.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: Reviewing written quality or inspection procedures for adequacy, and developing and implementing new techniques.Experience working with nondestructive technologies including most of the following: radiographic examination systems, magnetic particle analysis, liquid penetrant inspection, eddy current analysis and ultrasonic inspections.Experience applying ammunition logistics policies, procedure requirements and maintenance planning techniques.
This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12).
