Duties

Help

-Develops maintenance plans for assigned aircraft and associated equipment

-Implements maintenance plans through the development and publication of maintenance schedules to include scheduled and unscheduled repair actions, time-sensitive inspections or modifications, component time change replacement and aircraft or system inspections

-Develops preliminary operational schedules (utilization plans) and provides the Operations Group with an estimate of maintenance support capability to meet operational requirements

-Develops and implements specialized aircraft generation plans for peacetime and/or contingency operations in concert with various maintenance activities and operations functions

-Coordinates the implementation of the Time Compliance Technical Order (TCTO) Program, to include the implementation of individual TCTOs

-Serves as Aircraft Vehicle Distribution Officer (A VDO) to include the overall responsibilities for the maintenance and reporting of aircraft inventory and status/utilization for all assigned aircraft

-Assists maintenance analysis function in the maintenance of data programs/data bases specific to planning and scheduling functions, aircraft or equipment operational or historical records, and work order generation data

-Functions as the Engine Tracking/Comprehensive Engine Management System (CEMS) Data Base Monitor and develops/recommends local engine management policy and procedures on applicable Technical Order and AFI guidance

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Clerical and Administrative Positions.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-08, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes knowledge of recurring manufacture, overhaul, or repair of products or projects using multiple-process production methods and procedures to develop plans and information necessary for the control of complex products such as airframes of fixed and rotary wing aircraft or a variety of complex and long-term facility repair and construction projects.

FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-08 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-09 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE:

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:

1. Ability to plan, schedule, and take corrective action to meet emergency and regular work load requirements.

2. Knowledge of assigned equipment; Skill in effective written and oral communication.

3. Knowledge of and ability to interpret military aircraft and manufacturing terminology, technical orders, data, standards and instructions, and to relate them properly to the particular control projects assigned in preparing production plans and schedules and in maintaining effective follow-up.

4. Knowledge of maintenance organizational structures and skill in the distribution of personnel to obtain a balance of work; Knowledge of aerospace systems, subsystems, components, and associated inspections, repair, modification, and supply processes.

5. Knowledge and skill of appropriate production/technical processes and material posture of maintenance work centers to ensure continuing availability of material requirement.

6. Knowledge of aerospace systems, subsystems, components, and associated inspection, repair, modification, and supply processes

7. Skill in oral communication to effectively communicate with senior operations and maintenance personnel

8. Knowledge of and skill in the use of automated maintenance information systems and aircraft maintenance documentation processes to co11ect, compile, and correlate production data from a variety of sources and use that data to determine compliance status of scheduled maintenance, inspection, and modification actions

9. Ability to correlate and analyze a variety of routine production data, technical manuals, and directives to determine applicability

PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
