Duties

Help

1. Initiates and completes engraving orders by assisting customers in their selection of materials; calculates material and prices using established price lists; designs or downloads engraving images. Performs layout and designs for engraving items. Uses judgment in matching sizes, colors and designs as needed. Assist patrons by demonstrating designs and matching color of selected items and taking orders.

2. Prepares orders for necessary supply and resale items, requests maintenance and repair services and submits to Assistant Director or Director in appropriate format.

3. Assists assigned personnel in all areas of the Arts and Craft Program. Operates a variety of equipment in assigned area, to include computerized engravers, copiers, lettering machines, heat presses, air brushes, pouring tables, kilns, mat(and metal) cutters, choppers and hand power tools.

4. Responsible for operating the cash register, collects money, makes change and issue receipts. At the end of each shift, closes out the cash register, completes required paperwork and submits entire package to supervisor.

5. Assists customers in placing special(engraving and framing) orders. Assists in conducting in inventory. Maintains security of all merchandise, equipment and funds assigned. Provides customer service, answer telephone and assist shop user with craft skill development and work procedures.

6. With guidance from the supervisor, provides demonstrations and guidance on crafts. Maintains clean, neat and safe work area. Participates in special events to market the Arts and Craft services.

7. Performs other related duties and assist facility supervisor as requested.

Qualifying Experience:
Must have knowledge in operating laser engraving systems and have basic knowledge of computer and software such as Windows system, Corel Draw, Corel Paint, Microsoft Office, importing/exporting data using disc and flash drives, and formatting in order to program equipment, and the ability to read text and apply accordingly. Experience in cash handing and serving customers in a business environment is required. Must be able to read, write, spell and figure basic math and measurements. Must have a clear speaking voice and be able to deal with the public. May work uncommon work schedule, including weekends. Requires continuous standing, walking and stooping. Subject to metal and wood splinters, adhesives, paint fumes, cuts, burns and bruises. Must be physically able to lift and carry items up to and including 50 pounds. Must satisfactorily complete a pre-employment physical. Must satisfactory complete installation, state and national criminal background check to include (NACI).

Education

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does not allow for education substitution.
