Duties

Help

The purpose of this position is to assist and lead outings for the Outdoor Adventure Program. Within established policies and procedures, and under the direction of the Supervisor. Assists with the implementation of an outdoor adventure program. Leads and assists in the planning of activities to include, but are not limited to, the following: horseback rides, camping trips, hiking, skiing, ATV, skydiving, white water rafting, biking, backpacking, shopping outings, sightseeing tours, or other special events. Maintains equipment and performs scheduled basic preventative maintenance of equipment to be used in the outdoor adventure program. This may include cleaning, basic sewing of torn equipment, and repair of cooking/camping gear. This position acts as a guide and leads groups on planned outings. Operate a 13-15 passenger van to transport patrons on outings and activities and occasionally may be responsible for towing equipment. As the trip leader you are responsible for assisting in the planning and preparation of meals while in a back country setting. During extended activities and in preparing meals, may be required to perform simple cooking by preparing and cooking items that require little to no processing. During group outings you will educate patrons on the activity that they are participating in, their surrounding area, and Leave-No-Trace (L.N.T) ethics of the outdoors. During program activities or events, maintains control of and accounts for whereabouts and safety of assigned patrons. May provide available information and assists patrons in selecting and furthering their interest in the respective areas. May be responsible for video/photography on trip, in end to update our social handles. May be required to schedule posts and update Outdoor Recreation social media accounts. Responsible for all other duties as assigned.
Must be able to satisfactorily complete a pre-employment physical. "this is a drug testing designated position. The incumbent is subject to a random testing for drug use." Successful completion and favorable adjudication of applicable background investigation (Tier 1 Level) is required.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Qualifying Experience:
Must have experience which has provided a general working familiarity with the routines and procedures followed in group activities and programs; and practical knowledge and/or experience of recreational activities and equipment, rules, and procedures in a recreation program. Must be able to work indoors and outdoors, exposed to a variety of cold and hot weather. Handle objects weighing up to 40 pounds, and occasionally up to 50 pounds. Must possess or be able to obtain an approved First Aid & C.P.R certification within the first 30 days of employment. Maintain a valid drivers' license and satisfactory driving record with no major violations due to own negligence. Availability to work uncommon work schedule which includes weekends and holidays.
You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas:

Education

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does not allow for education substitution.

FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program. It is your responsibility to provide such evidence when applying.
