About the position: This position is Non-appropriated Fund (NAF) and will be assigned to the 92 Force Support Squadron, Auto Hobby Shop, Fairchild AFB, WA.

The primary purpose of this position is to perform and/or assists other recreation assistants or specialist in the operation and maintenance of an Auto Hobby Shop.

This is a Flexible (Intermittent) position; guaranteed 0-40 hours per week; depending on the needs of the facility

Duties

Help

Responsible for ordering, recording and dispensing of automotive parts. Maintains inventory and ensures that all parts are recorded and processed through the computer point of sale system. Maintains receiving reports, purchases, inventory and vehicle storage records. Operates cash register and accounts for cash using established procedures. Generates end-of-the-month records through the point-of-sale system, providing appropriate documents for supervisor and the NAF Accounting Office. Transmits and receives documents and messages electronically using a personal computer or workstation that is networked or linked to other computers or workstations throughout the work area or organization. Maintains control/suspense logs. Routes and files correspondence. Maintains files. Answers telephone calls and receives visitors supplying requested information from their own knowledge and/or files or refers caller to appropriate source. Issues, receives and schedules use of equipment, tools and repair/paint stalls for patrons. Uses chit or other parts assignment system for accountability of assigned tools. Provides instructions to customers on cleaning processes, soiled rag disposal, sweeping and cleanup of repair or pit stall and removal of excess automotive parts. Ensures tools turned-in are clean, assesses breakage or damage if any, charging customer for tools according to prescribed price listing. Accounts for condition, inspects tools upon return, bins, stores or replaces item with new. Arranges tools and parts as stock is replenished or added. Maintains a clean and orderly work area at all times. May be required to act as the primary or alternate equipment custodian. May be required to work an irregular tour of duty to include, days, nights, weekends and holidays. Performs other related duties as assigned.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). Qualifying Experience:
Practical knowledge of recreational activities, rules, and procedures is desirable. Experience in responsible clerical or office work of any kind in which the applicant has demonstrated the ability to perform satisfactorily at the grade/series level of the position. Ability to read, write, speak English and deal effectively with the public. Must be able to follow written and/or oral instruction, make simple mathematical computations and be able to follow cash handling procedures. Experience which demonstrates knowledge of a wide variety of automotive tools and parts is desired; good workshop practices to include setting up and maintaining a neat, well organized and secure storage area; inventory procedures and records maintenance.

Physical Effort:
Must be able to stand, stoop, bend and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Must be able to lift objects weighing up to 10 pounds and occasionally handle objects weighing up to 40 pounds.

Education

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does not allow for education substitution.

FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program. It is your responsibility to provide such evidence when applying.
