This is a NAF position with the 61st Force Support Squadron, located at Outdoor Recreation on Los Angeles Air Force Base, El Segundo, California and Fort MacArthur Military Reserve Base, San Pedro, California. This position is considered Flexible. The position is 0 hours, but has the potential to work up to 40 hours per week. As a flexible employee, you are not eligible for leave or benefits.

Duties

Help

Performs and/or assists in the operation, cleaning, and maintenance of indoor and/or Outdoor Recreation facilities. Indoor/outdoor recreational facilities include the Outdoor Recreation/ ITT Center, Recreation Vehicle (RV) storage lot, BBQ/picnic area, Fort MacArthur pool storage room, and Community Center loading dock storage sheds. Issues a wide variety of recreational equipment to eligible customers including, but not limited to: inflatables (jumpers/bounce houses); kayaks; canopies; miscellaneous camping, water sports, backpacking, and party equipment. Sets up tents, inflatables, canopies; inspects all equipment before and after use for usability/cleanliness/safety. Types of duties may include, but are not limited to, the following: Tests equipment for safe operation, demonstrates safety and conservation techniques for equipment being rented, and maintains equipment. Cleans equipment via various different methods. Assists customers with loading and unloading equipment. Inspects outdoor recreation and sports facilities and outdoor equipment for security and general conditions. Sets up recreation areas for scheduled activities/events; takes reservations and payment for activities, trips and tours. May support various outdoor activities such as camping, swimming, and boating activities where the incumbent may be required to stay overnight. Sells and processes Amusement/Water Park tickets via email or over the counter. May support as back up for El Segundo ODR/ITT operation. Intermediate cashier duties using POS RecTrac and credit card machine. Processes refunds and deposits. Collects cash receipts, cash register tapes, checks, credit card receipts, coupons, and other supporting documentation and ensures their proper processing. Prepares cash reports and notifies supervisor of any suspected irregularities. Must correctly input revenues in cash register, issue proper receipts and correctly record daily transactions on all Air Force/DOD forms including, but not limited to: 1875, 1878 and 1876. Must monitor front desk area to safeguard funds and inventory. Must be able to work an uncommon tour of duty including nights, weekends, and holidays.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if the position allows for qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.

Qualifying Experience:
Experience which demonstrates a basic knowledge and understanding of outdoor recreation activities and equipment such as but not limited to camping, backpacking, kayaking, surfing, paddle boarding, skiing & snowboarding, etc is highly desirable. Must possess experience in dealing with the public. Experience in responsible office work which includes demonstrated ability to perform common arithmetic problems, and making change when receiving payments from customers is highly desirable. Knowledge of cash handling techniques and procedures is highly desirable. Experience in maintaining proper inventory and checking equipment in and out is desirable. Computer word processing and spreadsheet program experience are highly desired. Must meet specific physical requirements and pass a physical examination. Must be able to lift up to 75 lbs. individually. Must be able to actively bend, stoop, reach and work in awkward positions. Must be able to satisfactorily complete a Tier-1 background investigation. This is a drug testing designated position. The incumbent is subject to random testing for drug use.

Education

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does not allow for education substitution.

FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program. It is your responsibility to provide such evidence when applying.
