The United States Space Force (USSF) at Kirtland AFB, New Mexico is searching for an Information Systems Security Developer, SZIC (GS-2210-12).

Description:
Member will serve as a Delta ISSD for the planning, execution, and reporting of Information Assurance and Cyber Security disciplines for the space ground and launch systems throughout the Innovation & Prototyping delta. Ensures that the proper acquisition system protections are properly planned, implemented, and reported throughout the development lifecycle. Main goal is to ensure the appropriate application of information assurance and cyber security policies and procedures to protect Space system Command programs. Newly appointed ISSD will functions as a subject matter expert for application associated policies for both research and development as well as operational systems under development by SZI and their customer base (Air Force Research Labs, Air Force Operationally Responsive Space Office, United States Space Force, Defense Advanced Research Program Agency (DARPA) and National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA). systems, and facilities and cyber security policies and procedures to protect SSC/SZI programs, systems, and facilities. ISSD will be responsible for ensuring the appropriate operational security posture is maintained for assigned IT; ground stations and space vehicles. Ensure software, hardware, and firmware complies with appropriate security configuration guidelines (e.g., Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs)/Security Requirement Guides (SRG)). Familiar in the Risk Management Framework (RMF) process, associated Security Control Families and the development of authorization decision packages to obtain Authority-to-Connect (ATCs), Interim Authority to Test (IATTs), etc.

As a member of the Cybersecurity Branch and Mission System Section that supports activities for space mission accreditation, technical performance, and program schedule issues ensuring all programs efforts comply with regulatory requirements and meet customer needs. Balances IPT workloads and provides overall guidance and the subject matter expert on cyber awareness and controls. Employee plans and carries out assignments independently; conceives and defines solutions to highly complex problems; analyzes, interprets, and reports findings of projects; and guides/supports technical and programmatic work.

Ideal Candidate:
Member must be 8570, IAM II compliant.
- Member must meet OPM education standards Must have a bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management or degree that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems or networks. Degrees in cybersecurity or Information Assurance (will accept a bachelor's in information systems security, Computer Science with Cybersecurity Concentration, or a master's degree in Cybersecurity or Cybersecurity Management) are desired.
- Member must possess a Sec+/CASP+ or equivalent certification.

  • Required to handle and safeguard sensitive and/or classified information in accordance with regulations to reduce potential compromise.
  • May be required to travel by military or commercial aircraft in the performance of TDY assignments.
  • May occasionally be required to work other than normal duty hours and/or shift work may be required which may include overtime and/or irregular hours.
  • PCS / relocation funding is not authorized.
  • Eligible for situational telework only, including Emergency and OPM prescribed "unscheduled telework"

  • The work requires the employee to drive a motor vehicle. An appropriate, valid driver’s license is required for the position.
