Duties

Help
  • Ensure that all recipes, supplies, utensils, and expendable supplies are available to support items by daily requisitioning supplies on appropriate forms.
  • Answer workers' questions regarding procedures, policies, written instructions, and other directives (e.g., technical orders).
  • Ensure that safety and housekeeping rules are followed.
  • Set up and replenishes food service steam tables with hot and cold food as directed.
  • Check work in progress and/or upon completion.

  • This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position

  • This position has a requirement to lift up to 40 lbs. in the regular performance of duties.
  • This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations. Employee shifts are rotated on a regularly scheduled basis.
  • This position is supervisory as defined by the Office of Personnel Management's (OPM) General Schedule Supervisory Guide (GSSG). A one year probation to assess your ability to perform supervisory duties is required unless previously completed.
  • Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Food Service Worker Leader ~ without more than normal supervision. Ability to perform a variety of duties incident to the maintenance, cleanliness, and decoration of the work area. Wash dishes, pots, and pans, either manually or by use of mechanical equipment; disassemble, clean and reassemble dish washing machine after use. Setting up dining room for service; remove used utensils and dishes to dish washing area. Unloading supply trucks and placing supplies in proper storage areas; delivering supplies to various workstation areas under supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who reviews my work for completion - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

  • Physical Effort: Work involves constant walking and standing. Employee must bend and stoop in loading trays on delivery carts. Frequently lifts up to 60 pounds, i.e., cases of food and milk.
  • Working Conditions: Work is performed predominantly in noisy kitchen and dining room areas; involves continuous standing and walking, mainly on concrete floors. Incumbent is subject to injuries from equipment used; exposed to dirt, grease, and water in cleaning tasks. Incumbent is subject to extremes of temperature in bringing supplies from walk-in refrigerators. There is danger of slipping on floors that are wet from daily mopping or where food or beverage has been dropped.???????
