Job Summary:

The Office of the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) provides operations support services and business solutions to the community of 10,000 House Members, Officers and staff. The CAO organization comprises more than 650 technical and administrative staff working in a variety of areas, including information technology, finance, budget management, human resources, payroll, child care, food and vending, procurement, logistics and administrative counsel.

This internship is located in the Communications and Marketing Department, Immediate Office, Office of the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), U.S. House of Representatives (House). The Communications and Marketing team brands, communicates, and markets CAO services and resources to the House community. Communications and Marketing works directly with the CAO’s business units and stakeholders to provide communications support for CAO services provided to House offices, including the development and execution of communications plans and marketing materials geared toward Member, Committee, and Leadership offices. This position serves as the Communications & Marketing Intern

From the latest food offerings on the House campus to can't-miss events and conferences, the CAO Communications and Marketing Intern will have the opportunity to be part of a fast-paced, dynamic marketing department. The Intern will work alongside the graphic design team to brainstorm, develop, and create graphic design deliverables for the CAO business units.

This position does not have day-to-day supervisory duties

Primary Duties/Responsibilities

  • Assists in the development of email marketing campaigns
  • Proposes and executes new social media campaigns (Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram) and vertical video ideas
  • Helps develop branding and brand campaigns
  • Proposes event branding and marketing deliverables
  • Assist with graphic design deliverables for CAO events, including CAO Staff Conferences, the Congressional Hackathon, and other events as needed
  • Deliver graphic design deliverables to CAO departments and events
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Graphic Design, or related field of study
  • 3 years of experience with Graphic design
  • Candidates should demonstrate interest and/or experience in public service
  • Candidates must be a team player and possess a high level of attention to detail
  • Candidates must possess a willingness to take initiative, come up with creative ideas, and work under tight deadlines
  • Candidates must have experience with the Adobe suite, including InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator

Preferred qualifications

Certifications in Marketing, Graphic Design & Communications
