Duties

Help

Performs and/or assists in the operation and maintenance of indoor, outdoor, and fitness recreational programs. Establishes events as well as rules and regulations to be observed. Ensures facilities are properly set up for a particular event, including gymnasium and playing fields for sports events, tournaments, and practice games. Demonstrates and instructs participants in the use of various equipment and provide guidance and safety instructions. Inspects facilities and equipment for security and general conditions; determines need for maintenance and repair. Other duties include but are not limited to the following: set up and tear down to include dragging and marking recreation areas for scheduled activities. Records and monitors attendance; takes reservations; takes reservations, payments and maintains financial documents. Notifies participants of schedule changes. Assists in monitoring, maintaining and accounting for resale inventory and equipment. Maintains files for all equipment. Ensure adequate supplies are on hand to meet the needs of the operation and/or customers. Observes the condition and behavior of all patrons to ascertain any potential problems. Instructs, cautions, and/or expels patrons as appropriate IAW facility guidelines. Resolves problems when appropriate. Ensures facilities are open and equipment is operational. Answers telephones, assists customers and provides requested information. Operates washers and dryers in order to maintain cleanliness of towels, uniforms, etc. Maintain cleanliness of facility. Performs other related duties as assigned.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Qualifying Experience:

Experience which provides a basic knowledge and understanding of fitness center operations. Must have cash handling experience. Knowledge of and maintenance of various fitness recreational equipment and facilities is desirable. Must have ability to communicate both orally and in writing. Skill in dealing with the public. Prior experience in basic supply techniques is desirable.

Education

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does not allow for education substitution.
