Summary

About the Position: Serve as the primary maintenance authority and operation support specialist for all project facilities at Tuttle Creek Lake project. Incumbent is assigned responsibilities to lead, direct, schedule, and/or perform all operations, maintenance, and repair of project facilities and equipment (covering electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems, and all buildings, grounds, and structures, as well as natural resources management functions).

Duties

Help
  • Assist supervisor in planning the use of workers, equipment, facilities, materials, and tools as required
  • Make frequent inspection of all facilities to ensure they operate properly and are in good condition
  • Operate engineering and construction equipment such as grader, backhoe, front-end loader, trench digger, and skid-steer loader
  • Operate conventional field type tractor and towed equipment used to mow fields, transport equipment and materials, plants/harvests crops, move earth, dig ditches, and for similar purposes
  • Construct and repair structures made of wood, concrete or block where required fit and accuracy provide a serviceable product
  • Repair existing plumbing systems for water and sewage lines

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Must obtain and maintain a boat operators certification through the Corps of Engineers within one year of employment
  • Occasional temporary duty travel may be required.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid Class A Commercial Drivers license within one year of appointment.
  • This is a drug testing designated position (TDP) under the Department of the Army Drug-Free Federal Workplace Program.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Maintenance Mechanic Leader without more than normal supervision. The ability to perform the full range of tasks of the trades and labor work performed by subordinate workers to effectively lead their work. I am skilled in trades and labor to include equipment mechanic, engineering equipment operation, tractor operation, motor vehicle operation, painting, carpentry, custodial, laborer, gardener, pest control, schedule and track project facilities and equipment maintenance activities. I work on my own initiative under general supervision subject to occasional inspection. - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

  • PHYSICAL EFFORT:
Work requires some continual walking, standing, climbing ladders and scaffolds, and stooping and bending. Equipment operation work requires arm and leg movements to operate controls. Moderate to heavy physical effort is involved, frequently lifting, moving, and carrying items up to 50 pounds while loading and unloading cargo, handling heavy equipment, parts, tools and materials.
  • WORKING CONDITIONS:
Works inside and outside, exposed to all weather conditions. Exposed to loud noise levels, vibration and jolting while operating engineering equipment, motor vehicles, and tools and equipment of the various trades led/performed. May be exposed to poisonous insects, reptiles and plants. Subject to injury from falls, overturning of tractor and equipment, vehicular accidents, loading and unloading cargo, or from hand and power tools used. Subject to electrical shock, cuts, bruises, insect bites and stings, scrapes, burns, infections, and broken bones. Life jacket worn at all time while operating work barge and work boat. May be required to work an uncommon tour of duty.
