About the position: This position is Non-appropriated Fund (NAF) and will be assigned to the Eglin AFB Library.

This is a regular part time category position with guaranteed 20 hours per week. Employees appointed to a regular category position are eligible for benefits.

Must be physically able to lift boxes of up to 40 pounds. Must be able to reach up to 72 inches with or without assistance of a step stool.

Duties

Help

Responsible for all program service operations. Assists in the training of new library aids and technicians on programing tasks. Independently performs programing duties by implementing established procedures for programs and services incorporating a variety of educational and recreation activities to stimulate and sustain the social, cognitive, physical, and emotional growth of youth, your adults and adult patrons. Actively seeks out grant and sponsorship opportunities and partners with community members to enhance and sustain programming. Assists in the recruiting and coordination of a volunteer force for large events. Coordinates with Supervisory Librarian in the development and implementation of marketing and publicity of library services and events and prepares appropriate displays. Based on patron needs, facility constraints, and available resources, recommends modifications of program operations, goals, philosophy, hours and days of operation, procedures, and policies. Maintains continuous oversight of all program operations and activities to ensure they comply with DoD, Air Force, and local policies, guidelines, and standards and are appropriate and effective.

Performs other related duties as assigned.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Qualifying Experience:

Must have specialized experience in a library that provided specific knowledge of library rules, policies, and procedures for developing and implementing programming that educates, stimulates and enhances quality of life. Ability to read, write, and speak English. Experience or training that demonstrates the ability to perform standard computer skills. Knowledge in a library that provides the applicant with general knowledge of standard library rules, policies, and procedures. Work requires some physical exertion such as long periods of standing; recurring activities such as bending, crouching, stooping, stretching, and reaching; pushing loaded book trucks; and recurring lifting of moderately heavy items. Physically able to frequently lift boxes of up to 40 pounds. Must be able to reach up to 72 inches with or without the assistance of a step stool. Possess skill applying standard customer service practices when dealing with the public.

Education

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does not allow for education substitution.

FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program.
