Duties

Help
  • You will serve as an Administrative Tech Specialist/Security Specialist under Code 1051 Personnel and Information Security Branch.
  • You will manage the Information Security (INFOSEC) program, providing expert guidance and support to NSWC PHD and industrial contractors to safeguard National Security Information (NSI) throughout its lifecycle.
  • You will develop, implement, and manage the Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) and Personally Identifiable Information (PII) programs, ensuring appropriate handling and protection in accordance with regulatory requirements.
  • You will conduct preliminary inquiries into security incidents involving CUI and classified information, thoroughly reviewing infractions, violations, and practices that pose a risk to national security.
  • You will recommend further investigations, corrective actions, and policy revisions to remediate identified security vulnerabilities and strengthen overall security posture.
  • You will collaborate with relevant authorities to investigate potential loss or compromise of information, conduct thorough damage assessments, and analyze collected data to inform mitigation strategies.
  • You will conduct comprehensive inspections, surveys, and risk assessments at command, detachment, and off-site locations to evaluate INFOSEC program implementation and identify areas for improvement across all echelons.
  • You will monitor and analyze policy, instruction, procedure, and control system updates to ensure continuous alignment with evolving security threats and regulatory changes.
  • You will maintain accountability and control of classified materials utilizing the Base Information Tracking System (BITS), barcoding equipment, and NSA/ESS approved destruction equipment in accordance with established protocols.
  • You will ensure compliance with all applicable U.S. Government security policies, standards, and requirements.
  • You will evaluate the potential for loss or compromise, and identify security vulnerabilities.
  • You will verify personnel 'need-to-know' prior to granting access to classified information.
  • You will participate in program and project planning to assess security requirements, develop comprehensive security plans and specialized training, and direct the implementation of robust security measures.
  • You will develop and implement local security policies governing assigned programs.

  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the NT-04 (GS-11/12) pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Knowledge of a great variety of state-of-the-art security equipment and devices in planning and implementing protective methods and security procedures; locking devices for doors, windows, vaults, and gates. Experience with security programs to include PHYSEC, INFOSEC, OPSEC, ATFP, EM/COOP, and technology protection. Ability to communicate orally and in writing.

Education


In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:

  • Successful completion of a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree; OR
  • Successful completion of three full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. or equivalent degree; OR
  • Successful completion of an LL.M. degree that is related to the position being filled; OR
  • A combination of experience and graduate education as described above that equates to one year of experience.

This position is part of the Warfare Centers Personnel Demonstration Project. The NT-04 pay band encompasses positions equivalent to GS-11 and GS-12.
