As a Health Insurance Specialist, GS-0107-14, you will be responsible for reviewing, analyzing, and evaluating proposed legislation, regulations related to issues under Parts C and/or D of the Medicare Program and/or other issues affecting health insurance programs for which CMS bears responsibility.

Conducts legislative, economic, and policy analyses related to issues under Parts C and/or D of the Medicare Program
Serves as a senior resource for other Health Insurance Specialists on legislative, regulatory, program initiatives and operations, and/or other special health care financing issues.
Evaluates the effectiveness of existing policies and reviews new policies and legislative initiatives for potential impact

In order to qualify for the GS-14, you must meet the following: You must demonstrate in your resume at least one year (52 weeks) of qualifying specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal government, obtained in either the private or public sector, to include: (1) Advising senior leadership on policies and critical issues regarding Parts C and D of the Medicare program; (2) Analyzing legislation regarding Parts C and D of the Medicare program about the impact and operational issues of the legislation for use by senior management; (3) Producing written documents for management to use in meetings with Members of Congress, including briefing documents, reports, issue papers, or decision memoranda regarding Parts C and D of the Medicare program; and (4) Working with Members of Congress or their staff on legislative interests or concerns regarding Parts C and D of the Medicare program.
