As a AIR BATTLE MANAGER (INSTRUCTOR) - Title 32, GS-2101-12, you will plan, organize, evaluate, and train activities of the Battle Management Command and Control (BMC2) mission which includes the Air Battle Manager (ABM) and Weapons Director (WD) career fields. This position is required to maintain qualification as an instructor/evaluator/trainer for ABM or WD. Provides training for advanced instructor techniques, student assessment, and evaluation criteria. This position also supervises any combination of the following programs: Training (DOT), Standards and Evaluation (CCV), Weapons and Tactics (DOK), and Mission Training Planning (MTP). Serves as an ABM or WD as a CRC crew member performing mission operations duties in support of combat, peacetime, humanitarian and Personal Recovery (PR) missions; to perform unit air operations command/control and related staff support duties.

MILITARY REQUIREMENTS:

Compatible military grade and assignment required prior to the effective date of placement. This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard. Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership. If you are not sure you are eligible for military membership, please contact a National Guard recruiter prior to applying for this position.

Military Grades: E-5 through E-9, WO1 through CW5 and O-1 through O-4

Conditions of Employment:

  • National Guard Membership is required.
  • Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.
  • Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation.
  • May be required to successfully complete a probationary period.
  • Work may require access to classified information. Must be able to obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance.
  • Irregular and/or overtime (compensatory) hours may be required to support operational requirements or contingencies or may be required to work hours outside of the normal duty day.
  • Must maintain a current Class 3 Flight Physical.

Qualifications

GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience, education, or training interpreting, explaining, and/or applying a variety of regulations and procedures. Experience using computer and automation systems.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: To qualify for the GS-12 level, you must have at least 36 months experience, education, or training with routine and non-routine preflight, in-flight, post-flight, ground or command and control (C2) duties according to specific transportation functions. Receives, interprets, extracts, and disseminates relevant data for mission planning or execution. Experience coordinating and negotiating with organizations/personnel both orally and in writing to resolve differences/problems. *For positions requiring supervisory functions; experience which included responsibility for the supervision and management of personnel.
