Duties

Help
  • You will maintain the missile maintenance inventory within prescribed levels or adjusted stock levels and reorder points using standard formulae and prescribed procedures.
  • You will receive and screen documents used to track maintenance requisitions and take appropriate action to ensure accountability of components during the maintenance process.
  • You will maintain an accurate accounting and reporting system for maintenance inventories and perform standardized property management control processes.
  • You will use automated systems and regulations to verify availability of material while coordinating substitutions and referral actions to meet required delivery dates.
  • You will conduct research and/or reconcile documents for all inventory irregularities and initiate action to obtain paperwork for any material received by production not recorded in the database.
  • You will coordinate with Ordnance Maintenance Production Branch and customers, when necessary, to obtain material status information follow-up on urgently required items, and/or expedite delivery of material to fulfill requirements.
  • You will prepare and maintain charts/diagrams on magazines, compound, and shed space usage, considering hazard class, compatibility group and Net Explosive Weight (NEW) using established methods for ordnance storage and segregation.
  • You will prepare and submit required Missing, Lost, Stolen and Recovers (MLSR) and Financial Liability and Investigation of Property Loss (FLIP/DD2200) reports.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.

Qualifications

Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:

  • Experience and knowledge of U.S. Naval ordnance inventory management policies and procedures, including storage, handling, and transportation of explosives, ammunition, and weapons systems.
  • Experience and possess in-depth understanding of Navy safety standards and procedures for the storage and transportation of hazardous materials, particularly related to ordnance.
  • Experience and ability to utilize Navy-specific inventory management systems such as Ordnance Information Systems (OIS) or other NAVAIR, NAVSEA, and NAVSUP supply chain management software.
  • Experience and possess strong analytical skills to reconcile inventory discrepancies and ensure the accuracy of ordnance records.
  • Experience and attention to detail in conducting physical inventory counts, inspecting materials, and ensuring proper classification of ordnance.
  • Experience and ability to work in a highly regulated environment, ensuring compliance with Navy safety regulations and operational standards.
  • Experience and possess effective communication skills to work with various military departments, contractors, and supply chain teams to ensure proper inventory management.

Education

In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:

Successful completion of a master's or equivalent graduate degree
OR
Successful completion of two full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a master's degree
OR
Possession of an LL.B. or J.D. that is related to this position being filled.
OR
A combination of experience and graduate education as described above that equates to one year of experience.
