This Merit Promotion position is open to Current Federal Employees and Former Federal Employees with permanent status or reinstatement eligibility. The Painter Supervisor will supervise all Paint Shop employees in the maintenance and repair of walls, ceilings, doors, furniture, cabinetry, displays and architectural finishes and coatings in the non-gallery spaces of the Gallery's East and West Buildings. In this position you will:
Supervise and direct a full range of Paint Shop operations utilizing traditional trade practices as well as current painting technology.
Plan, estimate, schedule and supervise the coating and finishing of furniture, mill work, cabinetry, displays, walls, ceiling, doors, elevators, new construction, and renovation and remodeling projects.
Utilize and maintain a variety of standard hand and power tools.
Review work schedules; determine manpower and material requirements; plan work assignments.
Promote an effective safety program and ensure safe working conditions.
