Duties

Help
  • Measure, cut, construct and/or repair wood, composite building materials, and wood substitute items where specific fit and accuracy are required within allowable limit s to produce a serviceable product.
  • Prepare surfaces and apply paints, varnishes, and shellacs to newly installed lumber and existing building materials.
  • Operate Material Handling Equipment (MHE) and electric or manual pallet jack to move, stack and unstack, load and unload materials in and about the warehouse, storage areas, loading dock, and on off vehicles.
  • Operate vehicles such as passenger and cargo vans, trucks and sedans weighing up to 4,500 kilograms (10 ,000 pounds) to transport bulk materials.
  • Perform pre-check inspection and reports post-inspection maintenance due.
  • Replace ceiling light and/or burned out bulbs.
  • Perform grounds maintenance to include yard care, tree pruning, snow removal, and care of flowers and shrubs.
  • Repair plumbing fixtures such as sinks, faucets, lavatories, showers, and garbage disposals.
  • Perform housekeeping tasks to keep room in a neat and orderly manner and complies with fire, safety, and security requirements.

  • This position requires ability to obtain and maintain required operators licenses to operate a Material Handling Equipment (MHE) and all vehicles including country, USAREUR and/or state driver’s license.
  • This position requires a full range of motion including standing, bending, stooping, crawling, kneeling, climbing, walking, and working for prolonged periods in uncomfortable or tiring positions. Lift and carry materials weighing over 45 pounds.
  • Work is performed inside and out during temperature extremes associated with the season and in unpleasant weather elements and working conditions. Exposed to dust and dirt.
  • The nature of the work exposes the incumbent to cuts, abrasions, bruises, shocks, and mashed finger s. Work requires standing, s too ping, bending, climbing. crawling and kneeling for extended periods in uncomfortable positions.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Maintenance Worker (Motor Vehicle Operator) without more than normal supervision. This includes general landscaping and grounds maintenance such as cutting grass with push/riding mowers, weed eaters, and pruners; basic carpentry, simple electrical installations or repairs, basic plumbing work, painting/masonry, janitorial services and operating/maintaining Material Handling Equipment (MHE), passenger and cargo vehicles. - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

  • Physical Effort: Requires a full range of motion including standing, bending, stooping, crawling, kneeling, climbing, walking, and working for prolonged periods in uncomfortable or tiring positions. Arm movements may be considerable when using tools. Lifts and carries materials weighing over 45 pounds. May work from ladders in other hard to reach places.
  • Working Conditions: At the WG-05 level, drivers operate vehicles in all types of traffic and weather on public roads (or the equivalent), and are exposed to the danger of serious accidents. Work is performed inside and out during temperature extremes associated with the season and in unpleasant weather elements and working conditions. Exposed to dust and dirt. Proper protection against extreme cold and dampness outs ide is possible using proper clothing. The nature of the work exposes the incumbent to cuts, abrasions, bruises, shocks, and mashed finger s. Work requires standing, s too ping, bending, climbing. crawling and kneeling for extended periods in uncomfortable positions. Work requires mode rate to arduous tasks. Works with ladders and steps stools. The tools, equipment and heavy objects involved occasionally present a chance of serious injury (broken bones, severe cuts. strained back) if good safety precautions are not exercises.

  • Direct deposit of pay is required.
  • U.S. citizens overseas under ordinarily resident status are not eligible for appointment under the Status of Forces Agreement.

  • If an employee brings a child to an overseas location and that child is entitled to attend a DoD school on a space-required basis in accordance with DoDEA Regulation 1342.13, the DoDEA and the Military Department responsible for providing related services will ensure that the child, if eligible for special education, receives a free appropriate public education, including related services pursuant to DoDI 1342.12 and DoDM 1342.12.
  • If an employee brings an infant or toddler (up to 3 years of age) to an overseas location, and that infant or toddler, but for the child's age, is entitled to attend the DoDEA on a space-required basis in accordance with DoDEA Regulation 1342.13, then the Military Department responsible for EIS will provide the infant or toddler with the required EIS in accordance with the eligibility criteria consistent with DoDI 1342.12 and DoDM 1342.12.
  • Employees (and family members) who require medical or dental care in the overseas location will be responsible for obtaining and paying for such care. Access for civilian employees and their families to military medical and dental treatment facilities is on a space-available and reimbursable basis only.
  • Pay retention may be offered to selected applicants for positions at overseas locations. Pay retention will not be offered as an incentive for employees moving between overseas positions.
  • Selectees may receive certain foreign area benefits such as: Living Quarters Allowance (LQA) or government quarters, home leave, etc. Selectees will have their eligibility for foreign area benefits determined at the time of hire in accordance with Department of State Standardized Regulation (DSSR) and DoDI 1400.25 volume 1250.
