Duties

Help
  • You will serve as the Lead Production Technician in the machine lab; providing input into system designs in close conjunction with developmental engineers and developing prototypes of conceptual designs.
  • You will interpret 3D models or 2D drawings and affects a physical product with general purpose production machinery.
  • You will provide feedback to engineers and draftsmen regarding any necessary changes to the model or drawing required to manufacture the part and provide feedback regarding necessary changes tolerancing of interrelated parts in a complex system.
  • You will witness prototype testing to observe characteristics that may require interactive design revisions; evaluate finalized developmental designs for manufacturability and readiness for low level and full rate production.
  • You will provide feedback to design engineers any suggested changes for optimizing production; develop manufacturing techniques and validates with low level production utilizing general purpose machinery.
  • You will independently develop full plans and estimates for prototype or low-rate production efforts to design engineers and management; plans include considerations for material and tooling procurement and lead time.
  • You will manage the scheduling of individual projects within the workload requirements of several concurrent projects; providing feedback and negotiating workflow execution with design engineers and management.

  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the NT-04 (GS-11/12 equivalent) pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: interpreting 3D models and 2D drawings to create a physical product and developing manufacturing techniques.

The salary range shown above represents all of the positions within the band, including high grade positions. This is not a high grade position; therefore, the salary may be limited to a GS-13 Step 10 (currently $137,000).
