Duties

Help
  • Observes and investigates construction at all stages to identify problems, report potential problems, and take timely action to recommend changes to solve problems.
  • Monitors contractor's quality control program and performance of contractor's quality control personnel.
  • Maintains daily contact with contractors to coordinate plans, efforts and objectives, to discuss possible changes, and to exchange views on construction, methods and procedures.
  • Coordinates construction activity between contractors and base utility managers and keeps project managers of using agency fully informed of all developments on the job.

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 10% of the time.
  • Incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.

To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job.

Specialized Experience for GS-11: One-year of experience which includes inspecting ongoing construction in relation to the design plans and specifications to identify and correct deficiencies, as well as suggesting acceptable alternative construction methods. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the Federal service (GS-10).

Education

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job there is no education substitution for experience, you must qualify based on specialized experience.
