Duties

Help
  • You will manage complex scientific data and protocols related to SOF performance including but not limited to: biomechanics, recovery science, advanced diagnostics, monitoring, performance technology, rehabilitation, performance physiology etc.
  • You will be responsible for developing and maintaining best practices and capabilities to optimize warfighter readiness, resiliency, and combat effectiveness.
  • You will manage sophisticated monitoring solutions and approved infrastructure enabling the aggregation of immediate and actionable physiological and allostatic load data from a variety of devices.
  • You will lead programmatic efforts to securely integrate performance technology and develop new advanced diagnostic assessment processes and training methodology to enhance operator performance.
  • You will aid in the coordination of all HPP research initiatives by coordinating with the HPP manager, HPP Coordinator, HPP team, outside agencies, and research partners.
  • You will be responsible for developing data strategy relating to HPP measures of effectiveness (MOE), measures of performance (MOP), and return on investment (ROI) with the goal of visualizing and communicating findings through data-narratives.
  • You will utilize sophisticated data science analytic techniques, modeling, and statistical software to analyze multivariate HP data relating to this role.
  • You will design and implement enhanced strategies and programs to improve SOF health, longevity, performance, and fitness with associated activities that will identify and reduce injury potential/severity.

  • Must be certified by the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) as a current CSCS.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • Incumbent is subject to periodic counterintelligence (CI) scope polygraphs.
  • Required to report to the command when requested.
  • May be required to travel on military or civilian aircraft or waterborne craft, deploy onboard ships, participate in tactically operationally relevant training (I.E. parachute operations) to perform needs or serve at remote sites as required.
  • Must have a Master of Science (MS) degree in exercise science, exercise physiology, kinesiology, data-science, sport science, or related field.
  • Must obtain and maintain CPR/AED certification and provide emergency care as needed.
  • Must have experience as a CSCS in various arenas, such as Collegiate or professional sport, Olympic, or SOF.
  • May be exposed to hazardous or hostile environments and may be authorized special/danger pay as provided by the Department of State, the Office of Personnel Management, or other agency regulations.

Qualifications

Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Managing multidisciplinary technology to perform warfighter readiness such as the capabilities within biomechanics, recovery science, advanced diagnostics, monitoring, performance technology, and/or rehabilitation.

Education

Applicants must meet the following Basic Requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual:

Bachelor's or graduate/higher level degree: major study in an academic field related to the medical field, health sciences or allied sciences appropriate to the work of the position. This degree must be from an educational program from an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education(external link) at the time the degree was obtained.

THIS IS A DIRECT HIRE ANNOUNCEMENT. Section 1109 of the National Defense Authorization Act Fiscal Year 2020 Public Law 116-92 amended Section 9905 of title 5, United States Code (U.S.C.) to streamline and simplify certain Department of Defense civilian Direct Hire Authorities to recruit and appoint qualified candidates directly to certain positions in the competitive service in the Department of Defense.
