Duties

Help
  • Serve as the Chief of Staff for the Assistant Director – Support (AD-S) responsible for advising and assisting the AD-S on matters pertaining to DHA.
  • Serve as a primary assistant to the AD-S for all assigned roles, missions, functions, tasks, and operations.
  • Share overall responsibility to provide the AD-S with a robust leadership capability across the full spectrum of the AD-S mission-based responsibilities.
  • Exercise full authority as a member of the pay pool management in assessing contribution and preparing statements of duties and experience for employees.
  • This role plays a key part in assessing strategic innovation opportunities, leading cross-cutting system initiatives, and supporting the development of DHAs strategies for transformation to a cutting-edge, leading healthcare system.
  • Identify efforts required to mitigate problems and to recognize the resulting impact in terms of schedule, performance, and risks involved.
  • Authority to work on strategic projects that affect the organization at various echelons or locations; responsible for the development, design, operation, and improvement, as needed, of the day-to-day operations of the organization.
  • Apply expert knowledge in DOD, Joint Staff, DHA concepts, philosophies, methodologies, policies, and resourcing requirements governing current and future operational initiatives throughout the Military Health System.

  • This position requires you to submit a Confidential Financial Disclosure Report (OGE450) upon entry, and annually thereafter.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
  • One-year supervisory probationary period may be required. A one-year probationary period is required if the selectee has not previously met this requirement.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes resolving issues impacting organizational programs/projects; and assisting with developing plans for organizational improvements. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (NH03/GS13).
