Duties

Help
  • Responsible for the full scope of library functions to include: library management/administration; personnel management; public/patron services, technical services, e.g. acquisitions, cataloging/classification, accountability of materials; etc
  • Evaluates effectiveness of the library's automated services, determines requirements and conducts studies to improve systems operations. Reviews library operations for effectiveness.
  • Reviews library operations for effectiveness. Determines internal library policies. Advises on external library policies. Establishes standard operating procedures and sets internal controls.
  • Prepares a variety of correspondence/reports/briefs. Conducts oral presentations and presides over group meetings. Promotes library services and programs. Develops marketing strategies to increase library awareness.
  • Supervises assigned staff, conducts employee appraisals, advocates training, and provides appropriate recognition and feedback for performance.

  • A one-year probationary period may be required.
  • Possesses satisfactory completion of pre-employment background checks in accordance with AR 215-3, 2-13, to include a Tier 1 background investigation to include childcare checks.
  • Must be willing and able to occasionally work weekends from 1100-1800.

Qualifications

A qualified candidate must possess the following:

1. A master's degree in library science, information services, or information management from an accredited college or university.
2. One (1) year of progressively responsible work experience equivalent to the next lower grade level is required which showcases the ability to perform in library management, personnel management, public/patron services, technical services, and library automation service functions.
3. Must have a working knowledge of office software products including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access.
4. Must have the ability to communicate orally and in writing.

  • This job is part of a pay-banded system. Sunday premium pay for regularly scheduled employees and night differential pay may be authorized by the Garrison Commander.
  • Foreign overseas allowances, post allowance, and differentials may be paid, contingent upon eligibility. These allowances may include Post Allowance for U.S. Citizens. Living quarters allowance (LQA) will not be paid.
