Duties

Help
  • Cleans rooms, corridors, stairways, and common areas. Sweeps, mops, vacuums, scrubs, strips and polishes using brooms, mops, lightweight equipment such as vacuum cleaners and lightweight floor scrubbers, waxers, and buffers
  • Dusts waxes and polishes furniture and fixtures.
  • Cleans, disinfects and deodorizes bathroom and toilet facilities. Empties trash.
  • Make beds and changes linen. Washes mirrors, walls, windows, and blinds. Provides and replenishes toiletries and room condiments.
  • Notes condition of room and report any conditions requiring maintenance or repair. Maintains stock of room and cleaning supplies and condiments to perform assigned duties.

  • A one-year probationary period may be required.

  • Must attend Team Member Orientation within the first thirty (30) days of employment.
  • Must be willing to work rotating shifts.
  • Must be willing to work days, evenings, weekends and holidays.
  • All employees are required to be available for Community Events that Business Operations Division supports. The events include, but not limited to, Oktoberfest, Freedom Fest, Children’s Fest, and Winterfest, and The Haunted Trail.
  • This is a flexible position. Flexible positions have no guaranteed hours. A flexible employee serves in a continuing position on a scheduled or as needed basis.
  • Must be able to lift and carry items weighing up to 20 pounds.
  • Required standing and walking on hard and carpeted surfaces with some bending, lifting, carrying, pushing and pulling of items and carts weighing up to 20 lbs.

A qualified candidate must possess the following:
Must be able to follow simple oral instructions and use hand or light weight powered cleaning tools and equipment as described which generally require no prior training or previous work experience.

In addition to the above qualifications, candidates who possess the following qualifications will be considered "Highly Preferred" or "Best Qualified":
Possess at least three (3) months custodial work experience.

Area of Consideration

  • This job is open to candidates who live in the local commuting area (U.S. Citizens and Non U.S. Citizens that live within 50 miles of Ft. Rucker, AL). Military Spouse Preference (MSP) and Involuntarily Separated Military Preference (ISMP) eligible candidates are included in the area of consideration.

PCS Costs
  • Payment of Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs are not authorized based on a determination that a PCS move is not in the Government's interest.
Allowances and Differentials
  • This job falls under the Federal Wage Schedule (FWS) pay system. FWS employees earn overtime pay for working more than 8 hours in a day or more than 40 hours in a week -- whichever gives the employee more benefit. Regular full-time, regular part-time, and regularly scheduled flexible employees may receive Sunday premium pay for working on Sundays. Employees may also be eligible to receive extra pay if the majority of their scheduled hours falls after 3:00 PM.
  • Non-foreign overseas allowances, cost of living (COLA), and differentials will not be paid, contingent upon eligibility.
