Duties

Help
  • Identifies, examines, classifies, accepts, rejects, and disposes material supplies and equipment; often the most complex items received by the site (including hazardous and toxic materials)
  • Performs work in the warehouse environment to accomplish all facets of the moving, storing, picking, and packing of material for receipt of issue
  • Prepares a variety of reports providing basis for the change in condition code classification and cost of repair estimates
  • Uses automated systems to perform the entire receiving process and to enter, change, delete, or prepare numerous discrepancy reports
  • Continually examines stock while in storage, monitors shelf-life adherence, and determines changes to material condition codes
  • Operates and performs general maintenance to assigned material handling equipment (MHE)

Qualifications

Applicants will be rated in accordance with the Office of Personnel Management Qualification Standard for Trades and Labor Occupations. Although a specific length of time and experience is not required, you must meet any screen-out element listed, and show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties at the level for which you are applying. Emphasis is placed on how you gained the quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time, and the required ability or potential to perform the job. Applicants who do not meet the screen-out element (SOE) will be eliminated from further competition.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Physical Effort: Work is performed on hard surface and in areas that require standing, stooping, bending, lifting and working in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Frequently lifts and carries items weighing up to 40 pounds. Obtains assistance from others or uses material handling equipment (MHE) for items weighing over 40 pounds.

Working Conditions: Work is performed within a warehouse environment. Works inside and outside subject to heat, cold, damp, drafty, or poorly lighted areas. May be exposed to dusty, dirty, or greasy conditions. Individual may be exposed to cuts, scrapes, bruises, abrasions, or injury from falling items. Subject to hazards of working close to moving equipment, trucks and conveyor lines. Must wear and use safety clothing and equipment for protection from hazards.

Applicants must comply with the Exceptional Family Member Program requirements as outlined in the DoD Instruction 1315.19.If an employee brings a child to an overseas location and that child is entitled to attend a DoD school on a space-required basis in accordance with DoDEA Regulation 1342.13, the DoDEA and the Military Department responsible for providing related services will ensure that the child, if eligible for special education, receives a free appropriate public education, including related services pursuant to DoDI 1342.12 and DoDM 1342.12.

If an employee brings an infant or toddler (up to 3 years of age) to an overseas location, and that infant or toddler is entitled to attend the DoDEA on a space-required basis in accordance with DoDEA Regulation 1342.13, then the Military Department responsible for early intervention services (EIS) will provide the infant or toddler with the required EIS in accordance with the eligibility criteria consistent with DoDI 1342.12 and DoDM 1342.12.

Employees (and family members) who require medical or dental care in the overseas location will be responsible for obtaining and paying for such care. Access for civilian employees and their families to military medical and dental treatment facilities is on a space-available and reimbursable basis only.

The Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) is committed to maintaining a safe, drug-free workplace. All DLA employees are required to refrain from illegal drug use on and off duty. DLA conducts pre-employment, reasonable suspicion, post-accident, and random drug testing.
