Summary

The Pentagon Building Management Office is responsible for day-to-day operation and maintenance of the Pentagon, which has a gross floor area of 6,546,360 square feet and houses approximately 25,000 Federal employees assigned to 14 agencies of the Department of Defense, The tenants of the Pentagon include Cabinet level officers, heads of agencies and commissions and high-ranking officers of the Army, Navy. Marines and Air Force.

This position is being filled under Direct Hire Authority (DHA) in accordance with Section 1109 of FY 2020 NDAA; P.L. 116-92 and Section 9905 of Title 5, U.S.C.

Typical work assignments may include the following:

1. Perform Preventive maintenance, troubleshoot, repair, and install a wide range of utility systems and equipment.
2. Interpret and apply blueprints, schematics and technical manuals for the install and repair of mechanical systems and equipment.
3. Determine cause of defects and malfunctions on assigned utility systems and equipment.
4. Replace piping, valves, sump pumps and bathroom fixtures.
5. Perform service calls, detect, troubleshoot and repair leaks.

  • This is a National Security Position has been designated as Noncritical Sensitive. Selectee is required to obtain and maintain a secret security clearance.

  • This position is Mission Essential. Mission Critical employees may be required to report for, or remain at, work in dismissal or closure situations due to adverse weather conditions, natural disasters, or other emergency situations.
  • This position will require you to successfully pass a pre-employment physical examination and annual physical examinations thereafter.
  • Must be able to work rotating shifts, weekends, overtime, holidays and may be subject to call 24 hours a day.
  • Required to wear protective equipment, i.e.., arc flash rated suit, tyvek suits and respirators, while working in hazardous areas.

To qualify at the WG-5 level, your resume must describe at least one year of experience that demonstrates the competencies necessary for immediate success in the position. Experience refers to any paid or unpaid experience, including volunteer work and Military service, that would be considered equivalent to work normally performed at the next lower grade level in the federal service.

Specialized experience can be defined as: 1. Perform routine preventive maintenance, and installation of a wide range of utility systems and other similar facility support systems. 2. Assist with determining the cause of defects and malfunctions on assigned utility systems 3. Under direct supervision, replaces piping, valves, sump pumps, and bathroom fixtures. and detects, troubleshoots, and repairs leaks.
