This position plans, organizes, and manages the activities and support services of the Squadron. Duties

Help

  • Plans, organizes, and oversees the activities of the 90th Communications Squadron.
  • Exercises supervisory personnel management responsibilities.
  • Represents the Communications Squadron in a variety of installation and functional area activities.
  • Conducts periodic evaluations of Squadron lines of effort, focus areas, and objectives as the basis for long- and short-term planning to enhance mission effectiveness and capabilities.

  • This position is designated Critical Sensitive: Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret clearance.

  • Illegal drug use by employees in sensitive positions presents a clear threat to the mission of the Air Force, national security, and public safety.
  • Work may occasionally require travel away from the normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft/vehicle to conferences, meetings, or functions away from the duty office/location.
  • Travel may include overnight stays.
  • May occasionally be required to work other than normal duty hours and/or Shift work may be required which may include overtime and/or irregular hours.
  • Cyberspace Qualification is a condition of employment. This position includes Cyberspace work as a paramount duty requirement.
  • Per DoDM 8140.03, para 4.2.a.(2)., requires foundational qualification requirements within 9 months of assignment to a cyberspace work role and resident qualification requirements within 12 months of assignment to a cyberspace work role.
  • A waiver of these requirements may be granted per DoDM 8140.03. Failure to achieve and maintain the proper Cyberspace Qualification may result in removal from this position.
  • A graduate degree in a related field of study, such as business, management, or IT, is highly desired.
  • Only open to current Air Force civilian employees within the 90 Communications Squadron located at FE Warren AFB, WY.

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Information Technology (IT) Management Series, GS-2210 (Alternate A). https://www.opm.gov/policy-data-oversight/classification-qualifications/general-schedule-qualification-standards/2200/information-technology-it-management-series-2210-alternative-a/

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-12, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes include planning, organizing, and overseeing the activities of the Communications Squadron. Exercising supervisory personnel management responsibilities. Representing the Communications Squadron in a variety of installation and functional area activities.

FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-12 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-???????13 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:

1. Knowledge of a wide range of cyber principles, concepts, and methods to analyze, plan, and adjust work operations to meet program requirements and objectives within available resources.

2. Knowledge of budgetary processes, cost-benefit analysis methods, and analysis of performance data to prepare persuasive budget recommendations in support of cyber requirements.

3. Knowledge of system architecture, integration techniques, testing methods, and Department of Defense Risk Management Framework.

4. Ability to analyze complexities of existing technology, review/revise/develop policy, initiate plans for enhancements, and provide management sufficient technical and cost analysis information, through written documentation and oral briefings, to render informed judgments.

5. Knowledge of safety, security, personnel management, Military Equal Opportunity (MEO) and EEO regulations, practices and procedures.

6. A graduate degree in a related field of study, such as business, management, or IT, is highly desired.

PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.

VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
