Duties

Help
  • Troubleshooting, repairing, and/or overhauling major components and systems such as engines, transmissions, differentials and transaxles, electronic fuel injection systems, ECS/related electrical, electronic, hydraulic, fuel, and other assemblies.
  • Tears down, adjusts, repairs, reassembles, and runs operational checks on components of these systems following instructions contained in technical manuals.
  • Disassembles, repairs, replaces, reconditions, and rebuilds components of the various systems and makes independent judgments based on specifications in technical manuals and on accepted trade practices.
  • Observes safety, sanitation and hazardous waste disposal rules and requirements. Operates vehicles to test repair and move around facility.
  • Isolates/repairs malfunctions often difficult to trace by a combination of visual/auditory exams and uses a variety of test equipment such as engine analyzers, compression testers, test benches, oscilloscopes, multimeters, special feeler/dial gauges
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

PCS Costs
  • Payment Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs are not authorized, based on a determination that a PCS move is not in the Government's interest.
FWS Allowances and Differentials
  • This is a federal wage schedule (FWS) position.
  • All FWS employees are entitled to overtime work for work in excess of 8 hours in a day or in excess of 40 hours in the administrative workweek, whichever provides the greater benefit to the employee.
  • Regular full-time, regular part-time (to include those in a limited tenure appointment category) and regularly scheduled flexible employees are entitled to Sunday premium pay when working Sunday shifts. A FWS employee will be paid a night shift differential of 7.5% for the entire shift when a majority of the employee's regularly scheduled non-overtime hours of work occur between the hours of 1500 and 2400. A FWS employee will be paid a night shift differential of 10% of the scheduled rate if a majority of the employee's regularly scheduled non-overtime hours of work occur between the hours of 2300-0800.

Incentives and Bonuses
  • Incentives will not be paid.
Non-Foreign Overseas Allowances
  • Non-foreign overseas allowances, cost of living (COLA), and differentials will not be paid, contingent upon eligibility.
