Duties

Help

As a Supervisory Human Resources Specialist (Recruitment and Placement), your typical work assignments may include:

  • Serves as a Human Resources (HR) technical expert in handling difficult, complex, and sensitive cases involving multiple controversial HR issues that have DEA-wide effect, and/or affect large numbers of individuals, including employees, annuitants, and job applicants.
  • As the senior HR technical representative, directs innovative automation and technology strategies for DEA recruitment, staffing, and placement programs, such as cultivating comprehensive strategies and initiatives using new and evolving web-based technologies and data analytics, e.g., online applications and questionnaires, computerized rating and ranking, applicant tracking, status reporting, and employee and manager self-service.
  • Serves as the principal advisor to the Section Chief in developing, formulating, and implementing a comprehensive recruitment program ensuring adherence to policies and procedures of all the recruitment and employment aspects of the Drug Enforcement Administration's Recruitment and Placement Program.
  • Advises and provides counsel to employees regarding policies, procedures, and directives of management.

Qualifications

Applicants must meet all of the required qualification requirements described below by the closing of this announcement.

Applicants applying for the GS-14 must meet one of the following requirements:

Have at least one full year of qualifying specialized experience that is at least equivalent in difficulty and complexity to work performed at the GS-13 grade level. Specialized experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Qualifying experience must demonstrate the following:1) Leading or managing a Human Resources Operations team performing staffing and recruitment functions; 2) Providing authoritative advice, interpretation and/or recommendations on implementing Federal human resource laws, regulations, policies, principles and concepts when advising leadership, team, and customers; 3) Analyzing, evaluating, and developing major aspects of agency-wide human resources programs; 4) Ensuring compliance with regulatory laws, policies, and procedures as it relates to staffing and recruitment; and, 5) Coaching, mentoring, and evaluating a human resources staff.
