Summary

The Court Navigator will provide information regarding physical office and courtroom locations, processes and services at the Courts, as well as making referrals to external service providers.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:

  • Serves as an initial point of contact greeting court participants and users entering court buildings.
  • Provides descriptive information about court operations, programs and services, as well as courtroom proceedings as necessary.
  • Works with court division representatives to ensure accurate information about operations, programs and services to better assist court participants and users.
  • Provides assistance and non-legal information to court participants and users about steps in a case.
  • Provides information about onsite court services and resources.
  • Provides information about external programs and services in support of court operations/functions.
  • Assists court participants/users with using designated computer terminals to access websites to obtain supplemental information.
  • Maintains a current directory of local external services and programs. 
  • Collects and assembles data for the Court Navigator Program.
  • Participates in presentations to visitors, stakeholders, partners, etc., on the Court Navigator Program.

  • Background and security investigation are required.
  • A probationary period of one (1) year must be successfully completed.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Grade 8: High school diploma or GED and four (4) years of general secretarial and clerical experience.

Education Substitution:

  • Associates degree plus two (2) years of general secretarial or clerical experience.
  • Bachelors degree plus six (6) months of general secretarial or clerical experience.

Grade 9: High school diploma or GED and five (5) years of general secretarial or clerical experience.

Education Substitution:

  • Associates degree plus three (3) years of general secretarial or clerical experience.
  • Bachelors degree plus one (1) year of general secretarial or clerical experience.

Experience working on a personal computer in a Windows environment is required. 

Experience providing customer service in a professional environment is preferred.

This job is being filled by an alternative hiring process and is not in the competitive Federal civil service.

Please note there is a mandatory one year probationary period for all new court employees.
