As a MATERIALS HANDLER SUPERVISOR (TITLE 32), WS-6907-6, you will direct the performance of all warehousing operations (Central Storage, HAZMAT Pharmacy, Aircraft Parts Store (RSP), Individual Protective Equipment, and Individual Equipment Elements).

Major Duties - This is NOT an all-inclusive list:

  • Plan weekly or monthly work schedules and sequence of operations.
  • Establish deadlines and priorities based on established schedules, methods, and policies.
  • Assign tasks to personnel and explain work requirements, methods, and procedures.
  • Review work in progress or upon completion and make adjustments as necessary.
  • Counsel employees on problems, resolve informal complaints, and take corrective action on performance or conduct issues.
  • Review work in progress to verify compliance with methods and procedures.
  • Investigate work-related problems and implement corrective actions within authority.
  • Ensure equipment and material are available, serviceable, and ready for use.
  • Participate in readiness evaluations, inspections, and mobilization exercises.
  • Coordinate work across flights to maintain efficient and organized operations.
  • Implement organizational improvements to streamline work methods and eliminate unnecessary positions.
  • Maintain records, workload data, and staffing estimates for planning and reporting.
  • Promote participation in programs such as Cost Reduction and Suggestion Program to improve efficiency.
  • Determine skills, materials, and equipment required to accomplish work.
  • Provide technical assistance to subordinates on difficult or new problem areas.
  • Perform non-supervisory technical work of the function as required.
  • Determine training needs and arrange for accomplishment.
  • Recommend and participate in the selection of personnel for vacancies.
  • Implement regulatory safety requirements across the shop.
  • Ensure personnel wear appropriate safety equipment and follow safety precautions.
  • Participate in duties such as fire/crash/rescue, snow removal, or natural disaster response as required.

Qualifications

AREA OF CONSIDERATION: The areas of consideration for this position, Title 32 Excepted Service (32 U.S. Code ยง 709), will be in the following manner and sequence:

  • The area of consideration for this position will be all excepted permanent and indefinite temporary technicians within the ILNG.


Military Grades: Enlisted Only - Minimum rank requirement of MSgt & May not exceed the rank of SMSgt.


SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: WS-06 Level - MUST possess specialized experience or training in receiving, packaging, and preparation for shipment; experience in compiling reports, overall warehouse planning, documentation requirements, and accepted warehousing methods, procedures, and techniques; and experience in setting up and rotating storage locations considering factors such as life expectancy, available space, and product turnover.

SPECIALIZED SUPERVISORY EXPERIENCE: MUST possess specialized supervisory experience that demonstrates the ability to plan, organize, and lead the work of others in fields directly related to the repair or warehousing function of this occupational series; the ability to perform administrative functions; to read and interpret a variety of technical publications used in the repair or storage of supported equipment; and the ability to provide guidance to others in work related directly to this occupational series.

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
