Summary

This position is part of the Defense Media Activity. The incumbent serves as Staff Action Control Officer for the Director, DMA, with the responsibility for leading a team of two contractors charged with establishing, maintaining, and ensuring adherence to formal internal and external procedures for the administrative control and coordination of all correspondence, staff actions, reports, issue papers requiring the attention or signature of the DMA Director or Executive Director.

As a STAFF ACTION CONTROL OFFICER at the GS-0301-13 some of your typical work assignments may include:

  • Managing and controlling correspondence and administrative tasks for senior executives.
  • Establishing and maintaining formal internal and external coordination and approval procedures for correspondence, staff actions, issue papers and other documents.
  • Reviewing and updating correspondence, as needed, to ensure content is clear and concise.
  • Writing and preparing correspondence and supporting documentation on behalf of senior executive approval and signature.
  • Managing the organization's electronic correspondence and task management system used to create, assign, track, and complete tasks.
  • Training and assisting people on how to use the organization's electronic correspondence and task management system.

Qualifications

You may qualify at the GS-13, if you fulfill the following qualifications:

A. One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service:

  • Experience providing comprehensive administrative and operational support to executive leadership with discretion, and proactive initiative.
  • Experience serving as the administrator for the organization's correspondence and task management system, including ensuring its smooth operation, managing user accounts, generating reports, and developing and delivering training programs to ensure user proficiency.
  • Experience managing complex tasks, facilitating communication with stakeholders, identifying and resolving workflow issues, and continuously seeking efficiency improvements.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.


Education

Substitution of education may not be used in lieu of specialized experience for this grade level.
