Serving as a Training Registration Specialist GS-0301-9 makes you a valuable member of the Federal Law Enforcement Training Centers (FLETC) team and mission. This position is located in the Office of the Associate Director for Training Ops, Training Management Operations Directorate, Training Resources Coordination Division, Training Resources Analysis and Allocations Branch, located in Cheltenham, Maryland.

The primary purpose of this position is to support of the TRC Training Administrator (Registration) in the management of the agency training projections, allocations and registration for all Center Basic and Center Advanced Programs on the FLETC enterprise ensuring all classes run at optimal capacity.

Typical duties include:

  • Providing administrative assistance to the Training Administrator (Registration) support of the Training Administrator (Registration) in the management of the agency training projections, allocations, and registration for all Center Basic and Center Advanced Programs on the FLETC enterprise ensuring all classes run at optimal capacity.
  • Making recommendations to the appropriate Training Delivery Point and Training Management Division Chief any additional training programs to fill a backlog of agency training requests.
  • Enforcing the regulatory report date requirements for pre-registration rosters and notifying agencies when FLETC registration policy has been violated for past due rosters and ensuring all agencies are aware of and comply with the pre-registration procedures.
  • Using the Student Administration Scheduling System (SASS) in order to obtain class registration information.
  • Ensuring that contractual agreements with Educational Aid contractors are not violated due to missed deadlines or insufficient information and providing assistance with verifying monthly bills for accuracy and completeness.
  • The first point of contact for on-center and off-center agency representatives and training officers who require training from the FLETC to meet their organizational law enforcement training needs.

Specialized Experience:
You qualify for the GS-09 grade level if you possess one of the following:

  • One year of specialized experience, equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the federal service, or equivalent experience in the private or public sector performing a variety of administrative/technical functions related to an organization's education or training registration process;OR
  • A master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D., if related OR
  • A combination of successfully completed graduate level education and specialized experience as described above that, when combined, equal 100% of the total requirement. This will be calculated using your resume and unofficial transcripts or a list of courses/course hours submitted with your application.
NOTE: Only graduate education in excess of the first year may be used to qualify for the GS-09 level.

Time-in-grade: Current General Schedule (GS) federal employees, and those that have served in GS positions within the last 52 weeks, must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade, or a combination of the next lower grade level and an equivalent band in the federal service by the closing of this announcement.

Re-employed annuitants' annual salaries will be reduced by the amount of their retirement annuity and by further cost of living increases. Background Investigation: To ensure the accomplishment of our mission, FLETC requires every employee to be reliable and trustworthy. Work Environment: The work is performed indoors in an office environment primarily sitting at a desk using a computer and telephone. Position may be required to drive a government-owned or government-leased vehicle to perform duties at locations on and off-site.

Physical Demands: The work is generally sedentary, clerical data entry via computers, with no special physical demands required. Work will entail moving of files or boxes weighing no more than 30 pounds. The building is two stories with no elevator, so stair climbing would or required.
