Summary

This position is part of the Air Force Elements, U.S. Transportation Command. The incumbent will be responsible for serving as the principal office assistant, performing various administrative and clerical duties in support of a legal organization normally found in a combatant command headquarters. Performs office automation duties such as word processing in support of the administrative and clerical work of the Staff Judge Advocate.

Duties

Help

As a SECRETARY (OFFICE AUTOMATION) at the NK-0318-2 some of your typical work assignments may include:

  • Serving as the primary management assistant for administrative duties in support of training, certification, professional development functions, acquisition program management, records management, and facilities maintenance.
  • Assisting leadership in the management of all directorate support functions.
  • Serving as point of contact with program personnel supporting assignments to improve office operations, work processes, documentation information management, and similar functions.
  • Making necessary arrangements for meetings and conferences including scheduling, contacting participants, and ensuring all required materials and services are provided.
  • Preparing a wide variety of correspondence, reports, and other documents.

Qualifications

You may qualify at the NK-02, if you fulfill the following qualifications:

One year of specialized experience equivalent to the NK-01/GS-04 grade level in the Federal service:

  • Using a variety of office automation tools to support office operations and produce a variety of documents such as letters, reports, spreadsheets, databases, and graphs.
  • Developing, establishing, updating, and maintaining office procedures and records maintenance of various types to ensure effective and efficient operation of the office.
  • Managing, ordering, inventory maintenance, and storage of office supplies.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Education

Substitution of education may not be used in lieu of specialized experience for this grade level.
