Duties

Help
  • Oversees warehousing and distribution of materials and supplies, which includes receiving, inventory, processing, and disposal of paper shipments.
  • Performs supply management functions, including managing changing priorities of day-to-day production operations in a warehouse environment.
  • Resolves issues pertaining to supply operations/functions.
  • Ensures material handling equipment is maintained within the warehouse area and loading dock.
  • Performs the full range of first-level supervisory duties, overseeing 9 or more employees.

  • TIME-IN-GRADE REQUIREMENTS: Applicants must meet time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. Applicants must have served 1 year at the next lower grade level (PG-09) or equivalent grade level of federal service to qualify.

Qualifications

To qualify for the Supervisory Inventory Management Specialist, PG-2010-11, applicants must possess one year of specialized experience that is equivalent to at least the PG-09 grade level in the federal service. Specialized experience includes:

1) Providing oversight of inventory control and accountability,
2) Using an inventory database to maintain records and stock levels,
3) Providing supply support to meet production needs and deadlines and resolving supply issues, AND
4) Leading others in a work environment; for example, setting and adjusting short-term priorities, reviewing others' work for accuracy, counseling, training, and/or advising on work and administrative matters.

OR Possession of a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree in a course of study related to the position such as, quality control and inventory management or supply chain management.

OR Three (3) years of progressively higher-level graduate education in a course of study related to the position such as, quality control and inventory management or supply chain management.

OR A combination of education and specialized experience. To compute the percentage, divide your total months of qualifying experience by 12. Then, divide your semester hours of graduate education beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages. The total percentage must equal at least 100 percent to qualify.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

All qualification requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement (09/12/2025) to be considered.

Education

If you cannot obtain your graduate school's definition of one year of graduate study, 18 semester hours (or 27 quarter hours) should be considered as satisfying the requirement for one year of full-time graduate study.

Work Life Balance:
The GPO offers Transit subsidy for commuters using public transportation (Metro Bus/Rail, MARC, VRE, etc.).
This position is eligible for telework, as determined by agency policy.

Background Investigation for a Secret Clearance:
To ensure the accomplishment of its mission, the GPO requires every employee to be reliable and trustworthy; this position requires a Secret clearance. To meet those standards, all selected applicants must undergo and successfully completed a background investigation for a Secret clearance. This review could include financial issues such as delinquency in the payment of debts, child support and/or tax obligations, as well as certain criminal offenses and illegal use or possession of drugs; this security process may take between 6 weeks to 12 months.

GPO will conduct an interim security clearance, pending the completion of the full investigative requirements for the final Secret clearance. The interim security clearance will be granted based on the favorable completion of preliminary checks that are accomplished as part of the security clearance process. The Agency may rescind the tentative offer if the candidate is unable to obtain an interim clearance.

The selectee will work shift 1.
