  • Serves as technical authority and support on the Storage area Network (SAN) in the enterprise.

  • Ensures all changes to production products follow IT Change Management processes and procedures.
  • Enforces the process of the Defense Logistics Agency system development life cycle and utilizes the appropriate tools to ensure that projects are successfully delivered.
  • Interprets policies and implementation plans used by the Defense Logistics Agency SAN, UNIX, Windows, and database administrators.
  • Assures all documentation is kept up to date for SAN configurations, procedures, licensing and designs.
  • Responds to SAN, NAS, Backup, and Archive data-calls pertaining to systems and licensing.
  • Participates in the installation and configuration of SAN, Backup, Archive, and NAS products. Installs, configures and maintains the enterprise SAN, Backup, Archive, and NAS environment and products.
  • Evaluates and recommends new systems diagnostic tools and ensures SAN, Backup, Archive, and NAS solutions integrity and availability by monitoring operational metrics.
  • Conducts security validation activities of SAN, Backup, Archive, and NAS products to include but not limited to Security Readiness Review (SRR) scans and manual checks of each of the security controls using Security Technical Implementation Guides.

Qualifications

To qualify for an IT Specialist (SYSADMIN/INFOSEC) your resume and supporting documentation must support:

A. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience that equipped you with the particular competencies to
successfully perform the duties of the position, and is directly in or related to this position. To qualify at the GS-12
level, applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level or equivalent under
other pay systems in the Federal service, military or private sector. Applicants must meet eligibility requirements
including time-in-grade (General Schedule (GS) positions only), time-after-competitive appointment, minimum
qualifications, and any other regulatory requirements by the cut-off/closing date of the announcement. Creditable
specialized experience includes:

  • Provides authoritative advice with Knowledge of SAN (Storage arrays - SAN/NAS/DAS, switches - iSCSl/fiber, replication, etc.), Backup (Software, Disk to Disk Appliances, Tape Solutions, etc.), Archive (Software and Storage Arrays), and software (utilities and monitoring tools, etc.) used by the agency.
  • Maintains a knowledge of all software and hardware products included in the SAN, Backup, Archive, and NAS environments to provide seamless interface and integration capabilities for access to enterprise data.
  • Performs diagnostic techniques and procedures in order to analyze and isolate problems related to system, storage, network hardware or software to provide technical assistance to customers, OEM representatives and 3rd party provider representatives in resolving problems.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Drug-Free Workplace Policy

The Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) is committed to maintaining a safe, drug-free workplace. All DLA employees are required to refrain from illegal drug use on and off duty. DLA conducts pre-employment, reasonable suspicion, post-accident, and random drug testing.

The DLA drug testing panel tests for the following substances: marijuana, cocaine, opiates, heroin, phencyclidine, amphetamines, methamphetamines, fentanyl, norfentanyl, methylenedioxymethamphetamine (MDMA), methylenedioxyamphetamine (MDA), and opioids.

ADVISORY: Use of cannabidiol (CBD) products may result in a positive drug test for marijuana. DLA employees are subject to Federal law and under Federal law, Marijuana is a Schedule I drug and is illegal.
