Help
  • Maintains database and the operating system for the purpose of maximizing efficiency in data movement, composition, formatting retrieval, storage.
  • Serves a a troubleshooter in resolving problems with software appli8cations and the transmission of data between various platforms.
  • Makes modifications to data that resides on the basic operating system; along with maintaining the controllers relevant to the composition or printing.
  • Writes and debugs all batch and command files required to implement the procedures being developed.
  • Maintain data on GPO’S website: Govinfo.

Qualifications

To qualify for the Information Technology Specialist (Data Management), PU - 2210 - 12 , you must meet the following requirements:

BASIC REQUIREMENTS: Experience must be IT related; the experience may be demonstrated by paid or unpaid experience and/or completion of specific, intensive training (for example, IT certification), as appropriate. For all positions individuals must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below.

Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail.

Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services.

Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately.

Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Minimum Qualifications for Position:

Specialized Experience: To minimally qualify for the PU-12 level, Applicants must possess 1 year of specialized experience at the PG-11 (or equivalent) level or higher. Specialized experience includes the following: 1) Possess practical knowledge of Virtual Memory System (VMS) and Windows Operating Systems; 2) Possess technical knowledge of flow diagrams of computer, indirect Command Files, batch processes and control of processing, movement and maintenance of data; 3) Experience in the use of computer hardware, software, and printing data; 4) Experience in designing and maintaining databases and allocating storage capacity; and 5) Identify problems that may occur with hardware/software used in the Division and writing detailed computer processes and procedures.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

For a Suitability:
To ensure the accomplishment of its mission, the GPO requires every employee to be reliable and trustworthy; this position requires a background investigation for Suitability. To meet those standards, all selected applicants must undergo and successfully complete a background check for Suitability. This review could include fingerprints and credit checks, as well as a full field FBI background investigation and tax and bar checks for attorney applicants. The background investigation covers a period of seven to ten years depending on the nature of the position; this process may take 6 weeks or longer. The Agency may rescind the tentative offer, if the candidate is unable to pass the background investigation.


The selectee will work Shift 2: Work Hours are: 3:30 p.m. 12:00 a.m EST.
