Duties

Help

  • Serves as a primary liaison between the SAA, USCP, Federal agencies, and security vendors for Residential, Travel, Cybersecurity, Member Mobile Duress, and LECOR initiatives.
  • Processes enrollment requests for Members of Congress and coordinates ongoing security program operations.
  • Represents the SAA in inter-agency command and operations centers to facilitate timely exchange of security-related information.
  • Coordinates law enforcement coverage for Member events and monitors those events for potential disruptions or security concerns.
  • Acts as an advocate for Member offices to ensure the efficient delivery and communication of security services.
  • Educates Congressional staff on SAA and House policies regarding Member security programs.
  • Notifies Members and staff of available security resources and refers inquiries to the appropriate House offices as needed.
  • Audits purchase orders and invoices for compliance with SAA requirements.
  • Builds and sustains strong working relationships with Congressional staff.
  • Maintains accurate databases and situational awareness for all Member security programs and threat mitigation efforts.
  • Utilizes technology platforms such as geospatial software and specialized databases to track the implementation and effectiveness of security programs.
  • Supports the Deputy Assistant Sergeant at Arms for Member Security and Threat Mitigation in executing strategic initiatives.
  • Provides timely updates to SAA leadership.
  • Provides support during off-duty hours as required, including returning to duty or working remotely during crisis situations or emerging threats.

When assigned to the USCP Watch Commander's Office:
  • Serves as the SAA liaison on USCP Command Center operations and interagency coordination.
  • Monitors real-time USCP police activity and communications; collects supplementary data and disseminates updates to senior SAA staff.
  • Assists in drafting and modifying SAA/USCP security messages to House staff regarding active incidents or threats.
  • Tracks House Leadership movements and keeps SAA leadership informed.
  • Monitors arrests, demonstrations, and security incidents across Capitol Hill, the D.C. metropolitan area, and Member districts.
  • Reviews and distributes significant content from USCP Morning Reports.
  • Evaluates and enhances notification and reporting protocols as needed.
  • Maintains accurate documentation of Command Center bridge protocols and updates SAA personnel on changes.
  • Reports concerning public activity or threat intelligence to senior SAA staff for operational adjustment and awareness.

When assigned to the USCP PIOC:
  • Maintains comprehensive awareness of ongoing threats and the implementation status of all Member-facing security programs.
  • Uses advanced technology tools, including mapping and threat tracking systems, to assess the impact and scope of security operations.
  • Coordinates threat assessments and security-related intelligence updates in support of SAA leadership and Member safety.
  • Supports the SAA's strategic goals by collaborating with the PIOC on information sharing and rapid response during incidents.
  • Assists in producing updates for the SAA Daily Tracker and other internal situational awareness reports.
  • Participates in interagency coordination, particularly during large-scale events or escalated threat periods.
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Work Schedule: Full-time, permanent. Monday-Friday or Wednesday-Sunday Hours: 2:00 PM - 10:00 PM.

The incumbent may be required to return to his/her assigned duty station or work remotely to provide support to the House, its personnel and/or facilities, particularly during crisis periods, or to address requirements for assessing received threats and implementing required security procedures to prevent or mitigate any resulting consequences.

Employment is contingent upon satisfactorily completing a criminal history records check.

Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance. A pre-employment drug test is required for positions requiring a security clearance.

Qualifications

Work Experience:

  • Experience in law enforcement, security, or a related field, to include roles in policing, security management, emergency response, or intelligence analysis. Prior experience working with or within the legislative branch or government and familiarity with the Capitol Hill complex and its security protocols preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Must possess strong communication skills, both written and verbal. The position requires preparing time-sensitive reports and communicating with various stakeholders.
  • Must have the ability to gather, analyze, and disseminate information effectively. This includes monitoring police activity, tracking incidents, and reporting information to senior staff.
  • Must have experience coordinating activities between different organizations or teams. The role involves liaison with the USCP and other entities.
  • Must have the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously. The position involves dealing with time-sensitive and event-driven situations.
  • Must possess knowledge of or have the ability to quickly learn relevant USCP Command Center Policies, House Rules, Committee rules, and House Sergeant at Arms policies.
  • Knowledge of incident reporting and management systems preferred.
  • An ability to deliver briefings to senior-level staff preferred.
  • A background in intelligence analysis or threat assessment preferred.

Education

A degree in a relevant field (e.g. criminal justice, public administration, engineering, or political science) or equivalent work experience preferred.
